The other bi-weekly year long book from DC. "Justice League: Generation Lost" deals with the hunt for Maxwell Lord.
THE GOOD:
- How big of a threat is Max Lord? Enough to get the whole Justice League to put on a worldwide manhunt. However, the focus was (rightly) kept on the JLI members.
- I like how Booster Gold was handled in this issue. He was put on the sidelines, but wanted to help and eventually was the guy who got it right. I'm not too much of a Booster fan, but I liked what I saw here.
- I also enjoyed the portrayal of Lord here. In his mind, he's right. The best villains usually believe that.
- If the crux of the book is Booster/Max then we'll be in good hand. It was interesting to see that dynamic.
- We don't know exactly why those four remember, but we get somewhat of a reason.
- I did enjoy the last page. Quote and all.
THE BAD:
- We did know what the end of issue one would be which undercut some of the suspense.
OVERALL:
To throw out an additional bi-weekly was a very bold move on DC's part. I was looking for a reason to either drop the book or be compelled to keep following. I was impressed by the book. The art was solid and did its job, but the idea of four heroes hunting down an "invisible" man is intriguing. It didn't blow me away, but it is a very intriguing concept - four heroes hunting for a dangerous man who disappeared. I am concerned that the story may lull, under the weight of a 26-issue run, but I'm interested enough to come back in two weeks and would recommend giving this issue a chance if you're on the fence.
