    Review: Generation Lost #16

The Creature Commandos' relentless assault on the JLI's hide-out actually yields a possible, last-minute remedy for Fire's fatal injuries.

    The Good

It's so cool to see the Creature Commandos back in action! I thoroughly enjoyed the revival mini-series they got from Tim Truman a few years back - - they're one of the few cases where classic monsters have actually been updated in a creative, fun way. It speaks to how sharp Winick's writing on this that so much tension and suspense could be found in characters scrambling to steal a mummy's bandages (it's true! You'll see what I mean!)

    The Bad

At this point, any criticisms I have about this are going to be limited to small concerns about internal logic in the plot. Still, I have to wonder why Ice wouldn't think to use any of her freezing power to help slow Fire's bleeding. Maybe she was just too panicked to think clearly, but aren't icepacks usually broken out immediately whenever somebody's got a nasty injury like that?

    The Verdict - 4.5/5

In a lot of ways, this has been the stealth bomber to Brightest Day's flashy fighter jet - - a seriously strong title that's  delivered solid entertainment every couple weeks, even while it's flying under most people's radars. Winick's carved his own corner of the DCU with this book as the linchpin, and it's been exciting to see how the separate tracks of Booster Gold, Powergirl and even Batman's books have been intersecting with it.

While the boys do the monster mash with the Creature Commandos Ice tries desperately to keep Fire's flame a flickering. Elsewhere Checkmate and Batman have doubts about Captain Atom's culpability in Magog's murder.  The Good So much to like this issue, first of all let's start with the cover. The cover's really nice and has some great depictions of the Creature Commandos, I especially like the Frankenstein on it. And The Black/White/Red color scheme stands out without being too flashy. it has a ...
