People have been suggesting that I check out this series for a while now. And last week I finally did when I purchased issues 6-15 on a whim. Best impulse buy of my life! I really would go so far as to claim that it's the best team book out right now. At the very least, it's the best book coming out under the Brightest Day banner and one of DC's 3 best right now. This book takes some of DC's lesser known/respected/appreciated characters and puts them in a role where their mission makes them an infinitely important piece of the DCU. Max Lord is the best (read vilest) he's ever been written under Judd Winick's pen. And I'm really, really not a fan of Winick to say the least. However, I'm giving the devil his due here. You can really see he has a great deal of respect for these characters and a firm handle on their personalities. Despite the constantly changing artists on the title the switches never are jarring or off putting. All the artists/have similar styles that they can flow seamlessly at a first glance. But they also have intricate little distinctions reward a more observant glance. This is most noticeable with respects to how each illustrates Captain Atom (who's truly, truly well handled in this book)
