A Lobo I could care about.

I should preface this by saying: When I first heard about the redesigns, I thought, "Okay, maybe he's going to be even gruffer and biker-y(?)," but upon seeing them, I thought, "Yes, that'll do..." I should further preface this by saying: I never cared for the character. I always viewed him as space biker Wolverine, of whom he was a parody.

But this issue introduced me to Lobo as a serious character. There was a LOT of internal monologue, which still reminded me of Wolverine, but I did not think of him as a joke. I worried about the scene with the cargo, as if he was going to do the right thing, but it pleased me to see that he didn't.

I chuckled each time he said "Sorry. Not sorry." and felt it added to this character; a young, lean, killing mach--no, I won't go there. I look forward to seeing more of him, and hope that he DOES eliminate the Lobo of old.

The action while not as brutal as I'm used to with Lobo is pretty good. There's one moment in this comic where it pulls off being dark pretty well, but sad...
