Justice League #15
Ivan Reis takes over on art duties for the foreseeable future and the book is looking just as fresh as it did in issue #1. Reis adds loads of details in the backgrounds that helps create an atmosphere for the League. He also manages to draw all the action with such fluid that is flows together well between panels. There is a double-page splash that he goes all out for and it looks fantastic. The story is taking the Justice League is a different direction and so far- it looks promising. The U.S.S Mabus has missiles high jacked and hit the ocean floor. Geoff Johns does a great job at opening the story with stakes already high. He also gives us very human moments between new 'Power Couple', Superman and Wonder Woman that makes it easy to root for this couple. Cyborg also has a very human/not human moment with her father that clearly gets the character of Cyborg across very well. The action is huge and when reading, it feels like a blockbuster movie. The end reveal, while obvious, was interesting and will no doubt lead to conflict between Atlantis but the League itself.
THE BAD:
Adding Lois Lane to this issue and Superman not being able to save her, was a bad idea. It almost feels that soon, fans might have to pick Lois or Wonder Woman and putting those two characters against each other isn't a great idea. (Of course, I am saying this based of a few panels.) Like I said before, the end reveal felt a bit obvious.
THE VERDICT: 4.5/5 (Amazing)
Justice League has improved in the story aspect and has managed to keep the blockbuster feeling to it. Now, we are diving into the characters and so far we have had some new and interesting things revealed about the characters. I suggest you read this book if you like to know what is going on in the DCU, because this is where everything will go down. I would also suggest that you get this if you want a team book with characters you know but presented in new and exciting ways. This was an excellent issue in a series that keeps getting better.
