What event or thing made you no longer want to read a comic book title any more? It can be a bad plot line, something stupid that happened, new artist(s), a character taken out or a new character taken in. It just has to be something specific (not something like "well the title just kinda petered out") that, before that bad event, the comic was good, and after that, the comic was bad.
Jumping the Shark
Concept » Jumping the Shark appears in 0 issues.
Were you enjoying a comic book series until suddenly it changes for the worse, and it is no longer as good as it once was and is in serious decline? Well then, that series has "jumped the shark."
When did your ex-subscribed title jump the shark?
I stopped reading Spider-man mostly because of the clone saga and Maximum Clonage. I came back a few years later, but that's the one that springs to mind.
X-Men jumped the shark for me when they did "House of M." With the killing off of all the mutants, the X-titles haven't been the same ever since.
Hulk - HATE the idea of Red Hulk, Red She-Hulk, Hulk having kids, nothing interesting happening, etc.
Amazing Spider-Man - Can't follow a comic that comes out 2-3 times a month.
Fantastic Four/FF - The newest run is so BORING.
Avengers - One word: Bendis.
Superman - New comics suck, Action Comics doesn't interest me (we all know his origin people!!!), new run on Superman might dissapoint.
Superboy - USED to be good (previous series by Lemire), now written by Lobdell, dull (Teen Titans and RH&TO are much better, imo)
Green Lantern Corps - I liked it when it used to star Kyle, Kilowog, Arisia, Soranik Natu, etc. Now stars John and Guy (I CAN'T STAND John...)
There's much more, but those are the only series I can think of at the moment...
@blur1528: lol, I didn't know you liked those... the funny thing is their all my favorite characters, however an opinion is an opinion... :P

SO MUCH OF THIS.

Exiles really jumped when Claremont came on. I really loved the title, and really want to continue doing so, but he makes it very hard to do so.
omg, this x100.
Exiles had a few hiccups before claremont (the bugs, mimic's fate, the morph/proteus thing) but when it became the Psylocke show it really lost all the fun. claremont's cast was so dull and were so poorly and forcibly shoved into the book.
FF totally got boring. Well, it's not that it's boring.. it's just Hickman really connects his issues and they really come off as boring when you read them separately. You'd think bringing Human Torch back in the picture would liven things up a bit.. but nope. The simplicity behind the Torchs return had almost no impact at all. It's as if he was never dead to begin with.
what happened after Secret Invasion what ever that awful event was killed marvel for me and when sinesrto became a green lantern again it put me on the ramp but havent jumped yet
@mr.obvious: I saw this topic and thought 'this might be cool' and proceeded to read your post and then chuckle as I wrote mine. I like Guy a lot but all John does is murder fellow lanterns and planets. Dan Slott's Spidey is great in my opinion. That being said I don't buy it I only read my buddy's copy :)
@blur1528: I don't read ASM because the issues come out like 2-3 times a month, I don't have enough money in my budget to continue following this series, however having said that, I did read part of Spider-Island and I did enjoy it and I do agree that Slott indeed is an amazing writer. Guess I will read the tp's when they come out, I usually read more Spider-Man tp's than I do actual issues...
And I personally never liked John, he always bored me in the comics and even in the JL cartoon, I prefer Guy, Alan, and Kyle MUCH more, imo.
@mr.obvious: Sweetness.
Back on topic though, I hate this new Green Arrow series. I've been reading Green Arrow since I got into comics but this dude with the hood and glasses ain't Ollie. I dropped that title quick but I still love Green Arrow which makes me sad that I can't read him in a book anymore. I've also kinda felt a personal connection to him because of my own love for archery. And I have always rooted for the underdog. People may love the "Trinity" but Guy, Booster, and Ollie are my type of heroes.

I've never really been a fan of Ollie. Just couldn't get into the character. I think it's mainly because I've never really read anything GOOD from his many series; I read some of GA/BC (didn't like it), 2 issues of the brightest day run (much better but not my favorite), and I keep hearing about how much the new 52 series sucks... Maybe you could recommend any good Green Arrow comics? I am interested in reading about him, and have nothing against him, but I don't know where to start...
btw, also agreed with you in bold.
@mr.obvious: All of the Green Arrow fans I've seen on here usually recommend Quiver or Year One. But Green Arrow/ Black Canary has always been what I liked. I'm biased because that is one of the first series I got when I started reading comics. Some really good stuff is the Denny O'Neill and Neal Adams Green Arrow/ Green Lantern team up books. I have trades of those and they are enjoyable to say the least.
@blur1528: I have heard great things about Quiver. I once checked out GA: Year One at a Borders awhile back, but I only flipped through it. I've also read that issue of GL/GA where the elderly black man asked Hal why he had no problems with helping out the orange skins and the purple skins (aliens), but could care less about the black skinned people, it was a pivotal moment in Hal's history because this was when he realized that he had to learn to get rid of his racist tendencies, especially during that time of extreme prejudice.
I was reading Mr. Terrific #3 and suddenly.....my page was wet, a-and then I touched my cheek and I was crying, and I heard myself muttering, "what have they done to my favorite DC character, what have they done to you" And then I was at my LCS and I was about to pick up issue 4 but I was suddenly on the ground vomiting violently, and they had to call an ambulance and now every time I see a new issue of Mr. Terrific from the new 52 I pass out. So you see I didn't choose to drop it, I was forced.
@BlackArmor: LMAO
@blur1528: You should totally check out Green Lantern/Green Arrow. It's pretty good.
I'm still hoping that Doom was regained control after there little bodyswap and it's been him ever since and some how they clone a body and transfer his consinuse in to it so we get Reed, FF and Doom back in a oner@spiderbat87: I did like the part when Johnny melted half his face.
@mr.obvious: Oh ok. I've mainly read the GL ft. GA stuff.
