Julia Chang

Origin

Julia Chang is the foster daughter of Michelle Chang and since her first appearance in Tekken 3, she has been a regular on the roster, Julia has replaced Michelle's fighting style and importance in the series, her goal is to rejuvenate the forests of Arizona where she and her mother live. As a baby Julia was abandoned in Native American ruins, Michelle found her and raised her as her own daughter in their tribe. Michelle trained Julia in to help the protection of their beloved homeland. At the age 18 Julia heard the rumors of a mysterious fighter attacking well known martial artists. Her tribe knew the cause of this was Ogre and that Michelle's pendant which was a Native American treasure was involved. Michelle left her tribe to Japan in search of Heihachi Mishima to find out why he wanted the pendant during the second tournament. Michelle wanted to know the origin of Ogre's power so she could hopefully stop it, but why there she suddenly disappeared. Julia knowing it had to be Heihachi Mishima left in search of answers.

After the event of Tekken 3 Julia enrolled into University studying archeology. One day she discovered that her homeland of Arizona was slowly being enveloped by desert. Julia focused to save her home started study on ecosystem restoration. Julia then joined an advanced team of genetic researchers which was supported by G Corp, all of their research data was stored onto the super computer of G Corporation. A few months later Julia learned that the research was to be put on hold indefinitely. This was due to Mishima attacking G corporation and stealing all of Julia's research data, although Julia did not care for the feud between the companies she was determined to get her research data back. While searching the internet for information on Mishima Zaibatsu, she saw a webpage about the King of Iron Fist Tournament 4 in which she entered.

Despite that her goal to retrieve her research data failed she was still as, if not more committed to her research. Although with her data its extremely difficult. While researching, she received a letter announcing The King of Iron Fist Tournament 5 which she happily enters. In the 5th tournament she encountered Ganryu, who fell in love with her, just as he did with her foster mother, Michelle. Julia is oblivious to his love and defeats him in battle. Although not fully explained she does retrieve her forest rejuvenation data.

With her data she successfully completed her research and headed home to meet the person who was going to help her with putting her plan into action. This turned out to be an Elderly Woman who own much of the area of Arizona, the woman said she could speak with the spirit world and said that if the Kazamas ever fought in battle that a Devil from Hell would return. Julia did not think this would happen but on her plane ride home she saw an advertisement for the King of Iron Fist Tournament 6 she saw that the women word could come true so she entered the tournament.

Creation

The character of Julia Chang was first introduced in the video game series Tekken, before eventually appearing in the Tekken Forever comic series. She first appears in Tekken Forever #1 released in 1999. She is a Namco Bandai character. Julia has an alter ego that seems dramatically different to her normal look, this persona is known as JayCee, Julia in a colorful wrestling attire.

Powers and Abilities

Julia Chang is an accomplished and trained fighter. She specializes in Xing Yi Quan based Kung Fu, and is also a proficient Lucha Libre Wrestler. She has the strength and fitness level of a person her sizes who trains and conditions on a regular basis.

• Ganryu is in love with her Julia in Tekken 5, in his ending he tries proposing to her, but she has already left. Her tribe had legends about the fighting god Ogre.

• Doctor Abel almost succeeded in using Julia's re-forestation project, GENOCELL, to merge devil cells with human cells.
