The adventures of Jugurtha were at first based on the real story of Jugurtha, a king of Namidia's kingdom, in North Africa. The real Jugurtha fought against the Roman Empire during the 2nd century before Christ. 
 
The stories writen by Jean-Luc Vernal were drawned by Hermann for only two issues, published by RTP. The volume then moved to Le Lombard, with artist Franz. Issue #16, the last one, was published by Soleil Productions.
