X-Men #1 (Large)

As you can see here, she looks like she has her explosion powers. Any thoughts about this?

#2 Posted by jhazzroucher (15834 posts) - - Show Bio

Perhaps she will and hopefully will be explained on X-Men #1

#3 Posted by PrinceIMC (5422 posts) - - Show Bio

Looks like she did. They never really did fully explain what Hope and Wanda did with the Phoenix, I think lots of depowered mutants might have gotten their powers back. Though I hope she's still a vampire.

Just retcon her into never being a vampire and retcon that arc out of existence, along with a few other X-men arcs

Being a vampire is the only think that makes her interesting.

The speculation is actually getting me annoyed.

NO. She does NOT have her powers, need any more info, go read the fking interviews.

Also did Storm really need the Mohawk back. Wolverine wants her to be his new Daken or something?

Yes, she did. It wasn't Wolverine's decision, it was hers. When you're going through internal changes, the outcome tends be expressed on the exterior, go figure. "New Daken" ? Atrocious analogy. She isn't a possession of any man in Marvel.

Internal changes? I think Storms too young for menopause. At least I hope she is.

I think Wolverine missed his kid which is why he gave her the Mowhawk. She's his new little Daken, which is why he cut her hair

I'd prefer she have her powers. Vampire powers are bit generic.

Hey, she has attitude! and in the 90s, that's an actual superpower.

Don't vampire hate bright lights? or does that apply to sunlight only?

I really wish Marvel was a little bit more clear on the whole return of the mutants thing, and how it suppose to works.

Yeah, but it would be fun if she was allergic to her own powers.

can anyone say...sparkly vampire?

hahahahaha ^this.

I also prefer firework jubilee to vampire jubilee.

At once time she was supposed to have the potential to be the most powerful like in AOA. Id like to see her going back to that.

They have different powers though. They just use it almost the same.

Anyway, on topic, I read the interviews and all of that. But, it's really the art that's bothering me. So, if there's an explanation for the art, then it's fine for me.

You'd rather have a vampire teenager with attitude, lame stereotypical powers, and that is sooo useless that no one dares to mess with her character because of how deadend they turned her into and who has been in the worst story depictions of her character life since becoming a vampire! Tell me story arcs and crossovers in which she really shined as a vampire/character!?

Dazzler transmutes sound into hard light constructs... Jubilee emits powerful plasma blasts, just because they have similar looking "light powers" doesn't mean they are the same. Clearly u need to reeducate yourself on your X-Men characters! In no way shape or form are Dazzler and Jubilee the same, personality wise, character history wise, etc...

How would the team not be able to use a character that is superhuman physically and impervious to many types of attacks, not to mention she's a decent h2h combatant? Maybe the writers simply aren't finding anything for her to do because they don't care about her.

Or there is no place to put a vampire ex-mutant who's characterization and transformation into one was that of premature writing and story-telling!

@papad1992: I think that you should consider the fact that had Jubilee not underwent this process, there would be nothing to discuss at this point in time. She needed to become a Vampire, as you won't find Ex-Mutants featured in ensemble casts nowadays. It just doesn't work.

Becoming a Vampire saved her from perpetual Limbo.

@Vance Astro: True, but I think even Claremont in his prime would scratch his head on this one.

I don't think so. As long as she's WAS a mutant that is NOW a Vampire, they always have at least one thing attached to her character that can be explored further or resolved. The X-Men are a team just like any other, I don't see how Jubilee doesn't fit.

@Vance Astro: I guess. Well they did have Longshot and Madelyne Pryor both of which weren' t even mutants. Even warlock was a friggin alien so what the hell right? Still wouldnt hurt my feeling for her to get her actual powers back and lose the vampire schtick...lol. You're right it shouldnt be a mutants only club...

Creativity... really... transforming her into a vampire was the most unimaginative, uninspired, lazy transformations I've ever read!

Would have been just as lazy to just give her powers back like they did with Rictor. Jubilee becoming a vampire was probably so something would actually come out of the garbage "Curse of the Mutants" book.

BTW I wasn't giving them props on creativity I was saying that writers need to do something creative with her as a character.

It would be great for Jubilee to get her powers back although it should be shown on panel when it happened. As for Jubilee being a vampire only, I see nothing wrong with it as I enjoyed her character for what it was, not for her power set.

Like in the X-Treme book, Dazzler got to show how powerful she really is so hopefully in this upcoming X-Men book we will see the same with Jubilee. She is getting focused on so whatever the writer has planned, Jubilee is sure to become a character worth watching to those who aren't familiar with her.

How was giving Rictor his powers back lazy!? It was part of the story (Children's Crusade)... It was an essential transition in relieving Wanda's status of murderous witch to atoning for her wrongs! I'll admit that it started and ended with Rictor but it wasn't lazy. The whole Curse of the Mutants arc was crap... all of it! All of Jubilee's best feats were when she was a mutant (granted when she was depowered they should of made her a counselor of something for the depowered/remaining students, like they tried to do with Dani Moonstar but whatever). Curse of the Mutants came out a little over two years ago, and ever since then every appearance she's had has been mediocre at best, dead (literally), and lack-lusting...

They picked a character at random and he didn't really have much to do with the story. ALOT of big things happen in that book, none of them involve Rictor.

I agree that Curse of the Mutants was garbage but Jubilee is what remains of it. Of course all of her best feats are from when she was a mutant, she was a mutant for most of her existence. I'm not arguing in favor of her being a vampire but the fact that her appearances have been mediocre since she became one isn't because she's a vampire, it's because she's been written poorly.

I think it's just a cover mistake, I was never really a Jubilee fan as the only time I'm come across her was the 90's cartoon where I found her to be very annoying. I was not happy when they brought vampires in to the x-universe and wasn't sold on her being one. I've recently read generation x vol 1 and have grown to actually like her so was happy to see her on this new all female team and was excited by the look of her powers being back. But sadly I get the feeling it was just a mistake :( *fingers crossed for other wise*

Normal Jubilee > Twilight Ripoff Jubilee

Normal Storm > Mohawk Storm

I have nothing against change, as long as its for the better and not just for the sake of change.

It's not because she's a vampire. It's because the company that publishers that make comics she's in have fallen off creatively.
As far as X-Factor; No, I don't read it I barely read any mutant related books anymore because they've become stale.

I've read Wolverine & Jubilee, the issue of X-23 that she appeared in, and Curse of the Mutants so i've seen how she's been written as a vampire. Just because i'm not reading whatever book she's appearing in right now doesn't mean I don't know what I'm talking about, she's been a Vampire for like 2 years now. This has more to do with the idea of a character being a vampire than it does Jubilee as a character. You're saying she's been poorly written BECAUSE she's a vampire but Marvel has other characters who are Vampires, that aren't poorly written so how does that make sense? If you're referring specifically to my statement about her being "poorly written", as far as i've read she hasn't been written well and obviously the writing hasn't gotten any better since you're suggesting that the idea of her even being a vampire is inherently a bad idea. It's the writers job to change your mind. There are alot of bad ideas Marvel has come up with that to many readers turned out to be handled well through writing.
