Burning
I have not been reading JIM as of late but I noticed in this issue that it has not lost it's feel since I last read it. I however wasn't a fan on the art and felt at times there was too much going on. I also didn't like how Mephisto has a more human skin tone about him now.
This issue kicks off the Everything Burns crossover story. It starts with Mephisto revelling in the chaos that is about to unfold. There is a lead up and eventually an attack from Vanaheim on Asgardia. After flames start erupting and both sides retreat Loki reveals to Thor all the deals he has made with some bad people. After some angry word from Thor saying that he couldn't even be trusted with minor stuff Loki breaks out in tears and shows a lot of emotion as he genuinely appears to have been trying to do good. The two travel to Wilson one of the people Loki aligned with to find out he himself has made a deal with Surtur which Thor is not pleased about. When back at Asgardia Volstagg has evidence of both Loki's and the All-Mothers apparent betrayal of Asgardia. Even though they say they were trying to do for Asgardia's greater good Volstagg wants to seize them both. When he tries to get to Loki Thor being the brother he has always tried to be puts himself between them and Loki and starts to go to battle against his fellow Asgardians.
Really good start too what should be a great crossover story. I like how both writers are involved with each issue with the respective writer of each series taking the lead on there series. I also like how Thor even though Volstagg might be right puts his family first.
Final verdict. I would recommend this issue even though I am only getting it cause it crosses over with Mighty Thor the now. It has the making of a great story even though this one doesn't have the nicest looking artwork.
