Mister Loki travels to Hel 1

SPOILER WARNING: Click here to reveal hidden content.I must admit that my love for Gillen's work in Journey into Mystery runs so deep, that my opinion might be a little biased. Kierron Gillen gives once more a incredible tale in this third issue of the story, and his narrative style, florid and careful, match beautifully with the art.The tie-in with fear itself is not so much a tie-in, given that the only direct reference we get is one scene, already present in Fear Itself #3, were Odin send Th...

    Underworld Politics 4

Loki and Hel-Wolf venture into the realm infernal to rally allies in Asgard's impending clash with The Serpent and his hordes.   The Good Another lovely cover by Stephanie Hans, love the work she's been doing on this series.   There's a great recap of what's been going on in the Fear Itself event that ties into the book provided by Ikol. Pages like these can be very boring or tedious but Gillen manages to make this interesting and I love the way he writes Ikol. As he says, he's probably not very...

After Loki sacrificed himself in Siege, he is now reborn in the body of a child, but appears to be more of an ally then the evil god we have grown to know. A Fear Itself tie in book, the first page takes some time to recap his part in helping Thor escape and breaking out the Hel-Wolf for his own use.  Kieron Gillen's run on Thor is some of my favorite work. Over all, I think he's a great writer. In this particular issue we get to see him explore these almighty gods a little more. Something that ...

    Gates of Hel 2

This issue at times follows the same non-linear approach that occurred in the previous issue.  In a sense it seems as though the attention is almost being kept away from Thor (which makes sense in a way because the stories here are focusing on Loki).  As such we find out that Thor escaped previously though the first we find out about it is when he and Loki are captured by Odin.  The presentation of this issue is really dependent on its plot.  Thor is muscle so you expect action, and in a sense y...

    Oh, Hel... 0

Previously, I thought it had been rough understanding all the past and info in Asgard. But then we went to Hel/Hell/Hela/alternate hell/WHATEVER. Kinda wished we stayed in Asgard, really. Now that Loki has, quite literally, returned to Hel, despite having just been there for his death and all those other shenanigans, we have to get the backstory on A LOT. For someone like me, who has never followed anything Asgardian up until this point, there's a lot of history contained here, and not just in re...
