Everybody Must Get Stoned
A new villain in Thor's life is out for only one thing - Thor's immortality - and that villain is the Grey Gargoyle. The Grey Gargoyle, a chemist with the power to make whatever he touches petrify, goes around turning everyone to stone. So far so good. But the story takes a twist for the worse when Stan Lee comes up with an incredibly contrived way for Thor to beat The Grey Gargoyle as Don Blake - which was done merely to redeem Blake in Nurse Foster's eyes.
The backup story of Loki's vendetta against Balder is a similar story wherein the villain is defeated in an unanticipated twist, but for all its' brevity, it seems to be the greater of the two tales herein.
