No Killer Croc. He's the greatest villain of all time. Why does the vine hate him so much?

#7 Posted by SpideyIvyDaredevilFan26 (5923 posts) - - Show Bio

A lot of people. Joker is one of the most overrated, one dimensional characters ever.

#8 Edited by Marionettegeist (1912 posts) - - Show Bio

@peppeyhare: Personally I don't hate him, I just have fun taking jabs at him because he gets jobbed so much. Also I don't really think he's even close to being on par with Joker, but opinions, opinions.

I was just joking around :p. Killer Croc is lame

@peppeyhare: Oh OK. I thought you were joking at first, but you sounded serious the second time.

#13 Posted by Bruxae (12671 posts) - - Show Bio

Personal opinion is to many to name, but overall id say Lex Luthor qualifies in atleast an equal level.

@bruxae: I think he said only Batman rouges at first.

@dctv3363: I saw that, unfortunally I cant come up with any.. Except ofcourse, my personal opinions.

@spideyivydaredevilfan26: you do know that's the great thing about him? Right? That he just on dimensional that's the great thing about him he has no actual emotion

I'm pretty sure he has emotions. Just not love or empathy because he's a psychopath.

And no he not overated of course because overated the definition is something love, liked, wanted for no good reason and the character the joker does have good reasons

He only has one personality unlike humans he doesn't know what pain feels like

He knows what pain feels like he just enjoys it because he's a sadomasochist

he doesn't know what sadnes feels like hell he doesn't even no what happynes feels like so yeah that one of the many great thing about him

He seemed downright depressed at the end of the Killing Joke:

He torters and has defeated the greatest of hero superman batman batgirl jason todd and all those heros

He an ironic character despite him looking like a clown he's evil he's insane he's everything bad in a person

So yeah he not overated he's probably the greatest villain ever created

#18 Posted by lifeofvibe (3430 posts) - - Show Bio

@dctv3363: that's non cannon now a days he's like well doesn't even show emotion the only thing that's canon about that story is that he shot barbara gordon and that's all really

#19 Edited by Marionettegeist (1912 posts) - - Show Bio

@lifeofvibe: When did they say that? I remember them saying that the entire story was canon.

#20 Posted by PeppeyHare (4310 posts) - - Show Bio

@dctv3363: that's non cannon now a days he's like well doesn't even show emotion the only thing that's canon about that story is that he shot barbara gordon and that's all really

How is the killing joke no longer canon?

#21 Posted by lifeofvibe (3430 posts) - - Show Bio

@peppeyhare: @dctv3363: uhhh I'm not sure were I heard it from I probably forgot but anyways like I was saying death of the family no emotion theyved changed his personality in the new 52

#22 Edited by Marionettegeist (1912 posts) - - Show Bio

@lifeofvibe: What? That's the story were Snyder kept trying to shove down our collective throats the idea that the Joker was genuinely in love with Batman, versus just messing with Batman by saying sexual things.

#23 Posted by DareHulk (216 posts) - - Show Bio

As far as Batman villains go: Two-Face and Bane are just as good in my opinion.

All villains, I'd say Green Goblin and Magneto + Bane and Two-Face are as good and possibly better.

He wasn't trying to say that the Joker loved Bats. He was trying to get the idea across that the Joker believes himself to be a servant of Batman. Batman is the king of Gotham and the Joker is his jester who delivers the bad news which strengthens his king.

#25 Edited by Marionettegeist (1912 posts) - - Show Bio

@peppeyhare: I know, I just think he failed miserably. It came off seeming like Joker just had a sexual attraction to Batman. Its part of the reason why I posted this (What follows is a shameless thread bump)

http://www.comicvine.com/batman/4005-1699/forums/joker-harley-quinn-death-of-the-family-solved-1456976/

Also how are the rounds determined in this? What is this exactly, are we nominating characters for a poll or what?

I don't find that to be the mark of a great character at all. I find it the mark of an outdated, uninteresting villain. The best villains are the ones you can at least understand. You don't have to like them, but to at least understand their emotions. The Joker has no personality apart from being evil or insane. In that respect, I think Bane, Poison Ivy, Scarecrow and Harley Quinn are better, and those are just the Batman villains that are more impressive.

#27 Edited by Marionettegeist (1912 posts) - - Show Bio

@spideyivydaredevilfan26: Lifeofvibe is way understating the character. A lot of writers do write him to be one-dimensional (and I'll admit he hasn't really had a good story in a long time) but when writers actually do try to give him a kind of demented skewed sort of logic and reason he becomes much more interesting.

Though all the villains you listed are better as characters (maybe not scarecrow, I like him but he can be pretty one-dimensional at times as well), Joker is better as a villain than all of them imo.

He does become more interesting, but greatest villain ever? Hell, unheralded villains like Gorilla Grodd and Kingpin are better IMO. I do agree that he can be written pretty well as a kind of tragic character, or even just as a interesting character study with a warped sense of morality and logic but in most incarnations, he seems to be more of a evil obstacle than any kind of character with a personality.

#29 Posted by Marionettegeist (1912 posts) - - Show Bio

@spideyivydaredevilfan26: Yeah it's a shame that they waste potential for the sake of making him an easy to pull out evil for Batman to react too. But I think a lot of people like him so much based on the stories where he's treated like an actual character (as few and far between as they may be) even though he's defiantly not the most consistently great villain. And then theirs the people who just like it when he's one-dimensional, that I don't understand at all.

well at least i now know who it is its darkseid and i though i was the only one

No. Joker is the best villain ever created.

Anyone who says otherwise is a hatter.

On par with what? In terms of quality?

I think that it's subjective and opinion, but many say that Joker is one dimensional. Others say that he's not, others say that he is because of the way many writers write him.

I think Darkseid is a better villain.

However,in terms of Batman rogues,I think I would say Bane or Mr Freeze

Personally, I think Ra's is very close to that level as far as Batman rogues go. The problem is he's only been in like 1/4 of the comics Joker has.
