My favourite would be the 80's adaption cause he was more of what a real psycopath is, rather than just a clown.
Plus he killed Robin which was great until they introduced a knew one.
Joker
Character » Joker appears in 4198 issues.
The Joker, Clown Prince of Crime, is Batman's arch-nemesis. An agent of chaos known for his malicious plots, wacky gadgets and insidious smile, he has caused Batman more suffering than any other villain he has ever faced. His origin, name, and true motivations remain a mystery.
What is your favourite adaption of the Joker?
Doesnt matter what era, I just like the darker, crazier and more twisted joke, the one who bashed Robin...
The darker crazier version sounds about right. Heath Ledger was amazing but he doesn't hold a candle to Mark Hamill's voice or acting skills with his voice. I'm looking forward to Batman Arkham Asylum.
Mark Hamill and Heath Ledger, both did incredible things for the Joker's character. Mark Hamill was funnier, a blast to follow, and used Joker Venom. but Ledger captured the Joker's connection to Batman, his need to not get money but cause chaos, and showed his psychotic, schizophrenic characteristics and Arkham Asylum, Killing Joke, and Azzarello' s Joker make his performance all the better.
100% Hamill!
Joker is more than a psycho and Hamill did his best to show that. He is a mastermind and a manipulator that has a truly heartless need to make others suffer, but he isn't only that. He is a genius that, while bent on destruction only forces it upon Gotham in order to bring Batman out into the light. He wants more than anything to prove to Bats that he is nothing but hypocrite dealing out "justice" instead of dealing with his own issues.
Final thought: Hamill made the role what Heath could latch onto. Ledger said it himself. Nicholson showed the cartoony side, but not the ruthless side. Hamill is the closest adaptation to the 80's joker that there ever was and it made me scared because of it.
Ledgers was great but i have to go with silver age joker. the one that his own miniseries. i loooove that series.

I think they were on their way to this in Dark Knight.
Next sequal probably would have focussed on this a lot more. You could see it in joker's face when he was hanging up at the end of the movie.
thought bubble:
"You are the one i need to break."
