I was curious to know what nationality the joker was and I've been finding on the internet that he's Irish. So i just would like an answer to know if this is true?

The Joker is crazy, that's what he is.

And I don't think his nationality has ever been revealed.

He said on the Batman: The Animated Series he was Irish, I was just wondering if it has been mentioned on anything else on nationality he is but I guess I'll just stick with the info I got.

Joker is as Joker does.

Joker has no concrete back story, he could be an alien for all we know.

I don't think any nationality would claim him.

This is the only thing I've got. I don't know whether or not to believe it. I just find it really interesting because i'm Irish and it would be cool if he was too.

@diazbros: I would imagine if he was from a foreign nation, he would of been deported by now. It's not cannon, but in Batman: The Animated Series they do say he's Irish.

well, he's joking. It's not an insight into his past. More a bit of quip. It's just response to the guy's cliched "great scott!" exlamation.

Since his origins are masked mystery, he could be any nationality really.

He said himself: "Sometimes I remember it one way, sometimes another". There's really no way of knowing if that's true, or just another product of his dementia.

The backstory in Killing Joke is kind of confirmed though in Hush returns

I don't think his ethnic background has ever been alluded to but I can see Irish being accurate if it were. I picture Joker having been an Irish-American street tough from Gotham's Brooklyn equivalent. He's kind of characterized Irish too, in a way.

Im years behind but like Star Trek the animated series, animated shows with all the actual characters are canon. Not denying the Joker does joke but it doesn't mean he isn't serious when he was saying he's Irish.
