The Joker, Clown Prince of Crime, is Batman's arch-nemesis. An agent of chaos known for his malicious plots, wacky gadgets and insidious smile, he has caused Batman more suffering than any other villain he has ever faced. His origin, name, and true motivations remain a mystery.
people say Joker acted very similar to the way he did in The Killing Joke and Arkham Asylum, I think the former more. In The Killing Joke he shares that life is meaningless point of view with The Joker in The Dark Knight in both stories he is a slasher killer who does unpredictable things just like the movie. I think the story The Clown at Midnight reflects the movie Joker slightly.
On a visual level people seem to think the recent Joker graphic novel is inspired by Ledger's Joker but they started making it before the movie began production.
And the artist made this pic in 2005 making some people assume the filmmakers of The Dark Knight based their design on it. Either way people who liked Ledger's Joker seemed to like it here is the cover.
