Can he compete with batman? In the long holloween he kicks Harvey Dents ass, but i don't even know if Dent is skilled in hand to hand. And if joker and Dent have hand to had skills, where did they learn?
Joker
Character » Joker appears in 4241 issues.
The Joker, Clown Prince of Crime, is Batman's arch-nemesis. An agent of chaos known for his malicious plots, wacky gadgets and insidious smile, he has caused Batman more suffering than any other villain he has ever faced. His origin, name, and true motivations remain a mystery.
Can the Joker fight hand to hand?
joker always gets pwnd by batman but thats because batman is a trained bringer of pain and destruction, where as joker has not risen to that level of pwness so he can't compete however he could beat penguin man in a strap
He just throws his fists around. There are some people that can just fight, and there are others who can't fight naturally, and so have to take lessons. Joker is one of those people who can just fight. He would be the kind of guy to grab just anything up off the ground and jab you in the ankle with it.

you missed the part where Two face beat the hell out of him in Dark Victory then :P
no guns, just like punches and bitchslapping
The DC "Who's Who" describes the JOker as an average hand to hand combatant. But it also goes on to say that he becomes stronger in the heat of a fight as a result of his insanity.
Nighthunter says:
"I agree, the joker may not be the best fighter but his insanity give him an edge #spoilers alert#"
wow he beat lex luthor... they must be terrified down at the preschool
Nighthunter says:
"Apparition says:"Nighthunter says:I know, but only time I remember joker beating someone in hand to hand combat""he beated Luthor in hand to hand combat if that counts...."that doesnt count"
lol that should tell you how good he is

In the case of Dark Victory, where did two face learn to fight? He must have been trained, because he tangles with batman alot.

Harvey Dent was trained by Batman in hand to hand combat so that he could take care of Gotham while he went on his trip around the world with Nightwing and Robin
It depends on the comic.
It's generally done that The Joker knows some hand-to-hand melee moves, and he does fight dirty; but he mostly uses anything he can use to his advantage as a distraction. IE: cheating!
Joker is a fiend! He can definitely fight hand to hand...and he can sure take a punch. I would say hes the best at hand to hand combat when it comes to Batman villains, due to the fact that he can stand longer in a fight.

I doubt it... Ra's Al Ghul is a better fighter than him. So, is Hush. And Killer Croc... And, Red Hood... And Bane...

Gottheit says:
"Obviously not counting anyone who would disprove his point, Static. Duh..."
He said that he was the best at H2H when it comes to Batman's villains. So, I had to disprove it, regardless, because it doesn't make sense. Nothing 'Duh...' about it...

You have a point. I completely forgot about them...I thought we were only talking about two-face, penguin and the riddler...wrong thread! LMAO.
"Problem that trip and Dents Batman training happened years after Dark Victory... I'd have to agree with everyone else. He's crazy and he plays dirty. Crazy people aren't afraid of pain, so they fight like mad and don't go down easy, because they're... well... crazy.Luke Moonwalker says:

All the Joker's skills comes from he's madness because he's so unpredictable that no one knows in he's just going to beat with crowbar stab you with a knife or just make you luagh to death with his toxin.
He just can't kill BAtman because
- He cant live without him
- He's a clobber machine

True but can I point out that Killer Croc and Bane have "super-strength" Hush carries pistols and has been seen to hold his own against Bats H2H so surely it's only the pistols that give him the edge on Joker#1 As for Ra's Al Ghul, he has immortality. I mean for God's sake the dude was born seven hundred years ago!
Man if joker knew how to really fight like Batman,WOW Batman would be in trouble i think he would have to kill Joker to stop him
He seems to hold his own against Batman, but I'm not entirely sure if he had any training in combat. plus he fights dirty.
Joker is sometimes a good melee fighter having killed Robin with a crowbar and even landing a punch on Batman or Nightwing is beyond impressive to a normal, crazy human. He hold his own against Batman in The Killing Joke and The Nail. Nightwing in The Last Laugh.
He can fight but he is hardly the most fearsome hand 2 hand combatant in Batmans rogue gallery. He pulls something unexpected out of a hat sure and could most likely take anyone with no training or powers. But fighting ain't what the Jokers about. The line at the end of The Dark Knight movie summed him perfectly I thought.
"You didn't think I'd risk losing the battle for Gothams soul in a fist-fight with you? no.. you need an ace in the hole."
The Joker goes beyond not being afraid of pain, he relishes it. Fighting him is always a fight to exhaustion or death. He is unpredictable, he is random, he is beyond reason. However, fighting is always a last resort or first depends on how he feels but generally he has goons and traps and gas for that.
Joker has a sinewy and spastic fighting style, but that unpredictability mixed with his vicious streak and willingness to fight dirty are pretty effective.
I thought The Dark Knight did a great job of capturing that.
The Joker isn’t especially any sort of physical fighter. If he does come down to it, there’s usually a weapon involved. He's not one to play fair, but you could argue that the Joker vs. Batman in a fist fight isn’t inherently fair to begin with, so giving the Joker a weapon levels the playing field. He’s really about something far more than just plain old fighting. I really think he views physical excursions as beneath him, only regretfully sometimes a required necessity in his field of work.
the thing is he can do kinda anything at any given time, i would say hes no skill whatso ever but his madness and randomness make him dangerous.
hes below ALL of the bat family in fighting skill. He should in theory have ZERO chance aginst fighting Drake or spoiler nightwing and batman are Levels upon LEVELS higher.
people are making it sound like he kicked Jasons ass.........that DID not happen all he did was beatdown a robin to death and even then THE BLAST killed him not the 18 hits to the back with a crow bar! joker cant beat jason todd in a straight fight he cant beat any robin in a straight fight. Hes a dirty fighter hes a situational fighter, he will always have a random advantage and goes for the kill on every shot....thats why while he straight up cant kill a robin to save his life YET NO robin should fight him and think they will walk out alive cause joker usually finds a way to kill you.
Dub this joker FACTOR if you will there is no single hand to hand fighter in dc that joker SHOULD beat straight up but hes the most dangerous villan out there and some how can kill metahumans
Mr. J Can throw painful punches, up against Joker he gets his ass handed on a platter.
But Anyone else he could..
ya.... kinda... his no niniga... but ya his gotta learn how to fight, to be up against batman
