Powers

A former Architect, Social Activist, and U.S. Marine Sniper, John Stewart was chosen by the Guardians of the Universe to join the Green Lantern Corps, an intergalactic peacekeeping organization dedicated to protecting life throughout the universe. He is currently a member of the Green Lantern Honor Guard and the trainer of new Green Lantern recruits. Known as the "Master Builder", he has proven himself time and again to be an exceptional champion in countless missions that have taken him across the cosmos.

Can lanterns pass on there powers on to any one and if they have kids can they leave it for there child or you must be choosen the corps and how does wone get choosen

Well there power comes from the ring, so I guess they could lend the ring to somebody. But I'm pretty sure that when they die the ring choses the next host.

it's from the Ring...

when you die, the ring goes on to the next chosen lantern, or ring barer for that sector...

Rings are very rarely passed down through generations, this has only happened twice in the entire Green Lantern mythos...

Anyone can be a Lantern as long as the ring choses them. The Ring usually choses someone of great willpower and the ability to overcome great fear.

But a Lantern can duplicate a ring if they posses the skill and understanding to do so. Hal has done this (Can't argue with that it happened) and so Has Sinestro.

Only Guardians can do that. And only in case of emergency.
