    He refers to his work as "weird fiction", close to steampunk with H.P. Lovecraft horror elements.

    China Miéville was also supposed to be the writer of Swamp Thing Volume 5, a series which would be aborted because of DC's change of direction with the new regime of Dan DiDio and Jim Lee as co-publishers.

    China began writing the H Dial concept in Dial H which started in July, 2012, part of DC's New 52 but with Vertigo boss Karen Berger as editor per his request. In the series he examined the psychological impact of when a normal person acquires superpowers.
