Right.....

So, I've come to the conclusion I wanna pick up Hellblazer. but since the series started in the eighties, I have no idea which issue to start with.

Is the last issue a good jumping on point?

best issue to start with... #1 lol

but seriously now, if you want to get into this amazing series, go pick up the TPB's first, they'll give you an accurate reading of what the comic is like and bring you into the characters gracefully....

i'd reccomend, in order...

  1. Hellblazer: Original Sins
  2. Hellblazer: Rare Cuts
  3. Hellblazer: Tainted Love
  4. Hellblazer: Damnation's Flame
  5. Hellblazer: Freezes Over
  6. Hellblazer: All His Engines

all of these should be available at your local comic store / book shop...

if not, they're readily available online, have a search on Amazon or something and you'll find them pretty easily

give me a shout if you need the ISBN's or anything

I suggest you start with the "dangerous habits" arc it defines the character very well

i would start with Brian Azzerello's run, and then follow that into Mike Carey and subsequently Andy Diggle's respective runs. Azzerello's is my personal favorite, but Carey's is the most integral and Diggle's is of course the more recent. alot of people will tell you to pick up Garth Ennis' run, but i've got to disagree, personally.

I recently started just Reading Hellblazer and I love it to tell you all the truth I started out by reading the Story Arc all His Engines and then I got the One Dollar Issue 1 Reprint of the First Chapter of Original Sins and Im slowly getting the TBP and Love them I have not Read Garth Ennis run yet but since I liked the Punisher MAX and Preacher and Punisher Born I know that His Run will not Disappoint as I love how he writes and tells the stories

I started into Hellblazer a while ago but to be honest, I just suggest buying the Trade paper Backs and start pretty much anywhere.

The only one I would recommend would be "Dangerous Habits" since it's kind of his origin story. From there pick any trade paper back and enjoy, I did it and it never seemed to bother me. Although I have to agree with Pakx and say to start with Brain Azzerello's arc and work you way down since I never really liked anything before that, except Garth Ennis' stuff.  Jamie Delano did a few good stories at the start but as he went on it got a little boring. The Fear Machine still bores me to this day.

Almost every writer is good in their own way, it's all about finding what ones you liked most.

Isn't "The Fear Machine" somewhere among those ?

And why, WHY isn't Paul Jenkins' run collected ?!
