Disney has finally completed their roster for the upcoming film "John Carter of Mars."  Andrew Stanton will be at the helm, directing the film and Carter will be played by Taylor Kitsch, who played the role of Gambit in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, which we previously reported on. Joining Kitsch will be English actors Samantha Morton, Dominic West and Polly Walker. Morton will be playing Sola, Willem Dafoe's daughter; West will be Sab Than, the Prince of the Zodangans, and Walker will be playing the role of Sarkoja.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, the film's screenplay is complete and the film will be produced by Mark Andrews, Jim Morris, and Colin Wilson. It will be interesting to see how closely related film will be to the original story that was written by Edgar Rice Burroughs in 1912. What do you think? I am personally not a big fan Kitsch, and I am unsure how I feel about the film. Are you looking forward to it? Did you read the novel? Have you read the comic book adaptation of the story?

I didn't see Wolverine: Origins so I can't comment about Kitsch.  However if you don't like him Babs he must be a numbnut.  However I still want to see this movie, its GREAT that a Sci-Fi Classic from Waaayyyyy back when is being translated into a movie.  My brother is a huge fan of John Carter of Mars so I know he will be looking forward to it.

I had never even heard of this series at all, but the picture is kind of funny. It's like the author thought, "You know, what? Gorillas aren't deadly enough as they are. Let's give them four arms.".

@FoxxFireArt:
It's the best series from the guy who created Tarzan.

If the movie could match that art, then I'm all for it

I don't know...the book is somewhat violent (for 1912 standards, at least), plus everyone walks around naked on Mars/Barsoom.  I don't see how it's going to make a good Pixar film.  But the folks at Pixar are magicians, so I have complete confidence in them.

I just hope they don't make it a musical.

@whirlwind6:
I'm not doubting it would make a good series. I just thought the gorillas with the four arms was funny.

I'll be honest I at one time had the full Marvel run, I never read it but I had it. Lol But purely cause I think it's cool they're taking the risk of making it, I'll go see it.
