    A Masterpiece in the Making

This is one of the best treatments of the John Carter saga that I have seen. "First Contact" introduces the reader to the main characters and ends with an appropriate cliff-hanger. The over-all tone and story line is consistent with the original novel by Edgar Rice Burroughs. The writing is excellent and Filipe Andrade’s artwork is "out of this world." Without a doubt, this is my favorite John Carter comic series to date (although I did enjoy Marv Wolfman and Gil Kane’s 1977 Marvel series). If the rest of this series is like the first issue, we could have a masterpiece on our hands.
