Jitsugyo no Nihon Sha (株式会社実業之日本社, Jitsugyō no Nihon Sha)
Jitsugyo no Nihon Sha is one of the rare manga publishers to have its origins before the 20th century (decades before manga became a mainstream industry). Originally the company was based around one of Japan's first business magazines (from which the company took its current name which it has used since 1900).
The publisher's biggest foray into manga was Weekly Manga Sunday which was a seinen (adult male demographic) manga magazine that launched in 1959 (the same year the first two major shonen weeklies started). It was one of the first seinen manga magazines and predated most of the major seinen manga magazines by decades. The magazine lasted for over 50 years and nearly 3000 issues until it came to end in 2013. Notably, the magazine's best-selling series (Shizukanaru Don) was also its longest-running (1988-2013), surpassing one hundred volumes. Its final chapter was published just four issues before the magazine folded.
