Superman's Pal, Jimmy Olsen Special #2 REVIEWED: The Death Of...

Posted by G-Man (25948 posts) - 3 years, 8 months ago - Show Bio

I'm not the biggest Jimmy Olsen fan.  I respect his place in the history of Superman but he's always been an annoying kid to me.  Why should he, of all people, get their own Superman Signal Watch?  What makes Jimmy so special that he gets one?  Now I'm sounding like I'm jealous, but I'm really not.  I'm surprised Lois never got one.  Or maybe Superman is just constantly keeping an eye on her.

In the first Jimmy Olsen special, he started uncovering some info that got Assassin on his trail.  What happens when he uncovers more about the secret project?

Are you aware of who 'dies' in this issue?  I really don't want to give it away but it's a big one.  Will the death stick?  I have to say that James Robinson and Bernard Chang did a great job with this issue.  I'm almost ready to change my mind about Jimmy.  The combination of art and writing did a superb job.  The end of this issue was really suspenseful for me, even though I knew what was going to happen.  There's just so much more to this story now.  I really looking forward to what happens next and the reaction of others when they find out this character was killed.

I've been loving the Superman books lately, they're usually at the top of my list to read when they come out.  I love the art in all the Superman book and this was no exception.  I really don't think that so and so died at all so I'm assuming that he'll be back but you know what they say about assuming.

this is the solicit for Superman #692

Tragedy strikes in the aftermath of "Codename: Patriot" as Metropolis buries one of its own! And with a man down, the Science Police are on their own to stop a cadre of Super-Villains from stealing a formerly common commodity that has suddenly become rarer than gold!

I don't know but that doesn't sound like they're burying that person

It seems that, around here, people just aren't really into Superman comics.  It seems weird.  They've been really good lately.  I do have my doubts as to whether or not this character will remain dead but I'd imagine there'd be serious repercussions if they are dead.  What would Superman do?

That's why I think it'd be a good story.  The fact that Superman was off planet doing his own thing and turned his back on Metropolis.  But then, maybe it'd be too cliche.

So I read this issue, and went in knowing someone would die, but hell I didn't expect that to happen, G-man is right the last few pages of this issue are suspenseful as all hell, with every page you turn you kinda cringe with anticipation and fear, plus the art was amazing as well.

And just think how many people are missing out on this because it's "just another Superman" title.  It's a shame.

I  kind of want him to die because it may result in another zombie coming back in Blackest Night.
