Jimmy Olsen got turned into a girl for Man of Steel. Those of you that know me may know my feelings toward Jimmy are at best hostile so when I first heard this news I laughed my ass off and now a month later I still find it funny as hell. Made even more funny by the fact that I have yet to talk to a single person that even cared.
Jimmy Olsen
Character » Jimmy Olsen appears in 3908 issues.
Jimmy Olsen is a photojournalist working at the Daily Planet, as well as a close friend of both Clark Kent and Lois Lane.
I find this hysterical
I thought that it was said that Jimmy was still going to be Jimmy and that the girl in the movie would be his sister?
If it is true though, I will throw a tantrum if there will be some kind of romance, ie crush, between the two. It would be ridicules if that happened
@v_scarlotte_rose: Its funny because now days when people complain about even minor changes to z list side characters in movies most people didn't even notice a drastic change like this in one of the most famous supporting cast members in all of comics. Also I hate Jimmy and the name Jenny Olsen seems like a school yard thing people may have called Jimmy and the 9 year old in me finds that hysterical, its like watching a guy you hate get kicked in the balls.
@the_stegman: (S)he'll be played by Rebecca Bueller. She looks like this:
You know Jimmy could exist, maybe the role is his sister or something and she dies and Jimmy comes in as an intern.
@xwraith: Vast improvement
@themanintheshoe: Jimmy sucks in the comics, always has.
@laserlambert: I wasn't making fun of people who like him I was just posting something I found funny.
@innervenom123: My hate for Jimmy runs deep

uh huh, gee thanks for sharing multiple-month old news, with the sole intent to engender cheerfulness in the people around you.
or you know, shut up.
@laserlambert: I saw a thing on IGN that reminded me of it. I wasn't saying everyone who likes Jimmy should feel bad I was just posting something that amused me personally. I wasn't making fun of anyone other than a fictional character.
@joshmightbe: I just want to know why you hate him, hes not that cool, but that's not hs character.
@allstarsuperman: He just drags down every story he's in
dude the opening of new krypton starts with a jimmy olson arc, and hes like a geeky james bond, its actually pretty cool
This is the most spiteful non-Battle forum thread I've ever seen.
You act as if you've never visited the Spider-Man forums.

Fine people lock the thread I'm not getting banned over Jimmy Olsen.
This thread is taking a turn for the hilarious.

So long as superman is still super
and so long as there are no giant spiders
Eh, it's seems real unnecessary to change his gender, but it's not a big issue for me.
As long as they don't change the comics to I'm fine with it.
Gotta say, though, The actress they have looks way better then Jimmy ever did. :)

I can finally say that I want to boink the wind out of Jimmy Olsen.
Hahahaha.
Ugh. Well, as I just said last night in the thread about the Human Torch, I loathe deviations from source material just because of how rare it is to actually have a chance to see these stories brought to life in a big-budget film. To the extent that there have been far more Superman stories told on film/tv than Fantastic Four ones, it bothers me a little less, but still...I really don't see a legitimate reason for doing it.
I can finally say that I want to boink the wind out of Jimmy Olsen.
I SAW HER FIRST,SHES MINE DAMMIT!!!!
Whatever; the DC Animated Universe screws up Captain Cold all the time, so I'm kinda numb to the effects of deviations from source material in film or television by now. Sorry to all the Jimmy Olsen fans, by the way (there are Jimmy Olsen fans?!).
PS: Donald Glover as Spidey would have been awesome :)
I don't understand this decision at all. I just don't get why they don't want to be true to their source material in such basic ways. It's not like Superman stories have a lack of female characters that can easily be used in his steed.
Good thing she is most likely not making it out alive, probably leading us to finally get to see a modernized Jimmy.
