Jim Butcher's The Dresden Files: Fool Moon #1

Sizzling Story:

 

     Jim Butcher is the main creator of the series, Based on his writing he is a huge Neek (Nerd / Geek, Copyright) who seems to have a huge fascination with fantasy and modern story telling. Now I came into the comic with expectations of the book series in terms of how the character acts, which changed as I went into the book series hoping it was like the Tv series. Nothing is ever the same but it great to see Jim Butcher try to take charge of his creation and make sure his characters stay true to the novels.
 
    Now onto the story, The story seems simple if not a little too simple. I mean we see our culprit already if by seeing I mean just in animal form. If you did not manage to pick up from my intro rant or the title from this volume, this story would be about werewolves and if you are shocked by that fact you should slap yourself. 
 
    So the pace of this first issue plays out much like the novel were we are getting introductions into the main characters and what they are like. So in terms of story it will seem slow but I also take in mind that it is a detective story and will not go as fast as any other story. so I have to put myself in half batman mode in terms of reading this like a detective comics story.
 
   Overall the story is pretty good so far and keeps true to the book, it runs a little slow and does some intros into the characters if you have not read the previous volume of Storm Front. so I have to give this part a 3.5 out of 5. Its a good read and plays well as a basic detective story though at first you seem to think the story is pretty open and shut.

Arthritic Art:

 

   Now Im not familiar with the Chase and his art work. But from what I ve seen he has done work on the Wheel of Time comic series as well for Dynamite comics. which makes sense that I have not really seen his work. Its rare that I read much from this company. But I find his designs to be pretty good so far.
 
   In terms of aspect of mixing fantasy with modern designs it seems to work out well. Though it seems there is many empty buildings in Chicago. Harry looks like a skinny giant compared to Karrin Murphy. The designs of the characters look pretty good though thats all Ill say on that. If anything Chase really sets the design of the story and it really runs well in parallel with the story. 
 
  Mohan who is not related to the Zohan, Keeps this detective story dark and uses many dark colors with the art design. overall with the colors it really works for the dark nature of murder and the supernatural. Its not as thrilling as other art ive seen but the man still does a great job. 
 
  Overall the art is pretty good, it just runs really well with the story and makes it easy to follow along what is going one, it does not take away from the story yet it does not really add so much in terms of dynamics, the colors and shades really help keep the feel of a detective story so cause of that I give the art a 3.5 out of 5.

   So yeah the story was pretty good except that since it pace was a little slow and we have to kind of go through intro's with the characters again, which if you don't mind its pretty good. there is much reference to the previous volume so if you missed out it makes for a quick catch up. 
 
  The art is pretty good, it flows with the story but does not add to much in terms of dynamics, the colors and shades make up for the par work on the designs but manages to keep the feel of the story in a detective comics type of mood. its good having a team who are used to working with comics based on novels.
 
   Overall the issue gets a 3.5 out of 5 (I know shocker huh). It seems like a very interesting series and I personally would not mind following this to the end. Its worth a read if your into fantasy or into maybe Detective Comics. Harry Dresden is a serious Wizard Detective and is not afraid to throw some humor into the mix to keep the reader involved. Recommend reading this at least once or maybe pick it up.
