Jeremy Bastian’ whole life has led up to Cursed Pirate Girl.
He had the perfect childhood, growing up in a small Midwestern town, which afforded him the opportunity to develop his artistic skills early in life. He claims to have started drawing pirates, along with ghosts, knights and other “heroic archetypes” when he was in the 3 grade. Although he didn’t actually play pirate when he was a kid, he did bury a treasure of costume jewelry once. Jeremy’s creativity was also evident in his “making potions.”
When asked about his influences, he has credited Mike Mignola, Arthur Adams, Guy Davis (which is abundantly obvious), Travis Charest and Yoshitaka Amano, along with Gustove Dore and Arthur Rackham (Charles Vess’ personal favorite) among others.
