There's still plenty of rumors about who will direct Episode VII, but it looks like the 300 and Watchmen director Zack Snyder will get to play around with a different part of the massive Star Wars film universe. According to Vulture, the Man of Steel director is behind a Star Wars title for Lucasfilm and it'll potentially be connected to the new trilogy.
The website claims the movie will focus on Jedi and be loosely based on 1954's Seven Samurai. They don't know yet where it'll fall in the Star Wars timeline, but according to one insider, it will probably take place after Return of the Jedi.
More lightsaber fights and with Snyder directing? Count me in. Just imagine any of the amazingly cool fight sequences in 300... but now with lightsabers. This makes me wonder how many other tie-in films they have planned... and if there's any hope one will focus on Boba Fett! How do you feel about the film franchise expanding and do you think Snyder's a good option?
