Jay Garrick Redesign
oh, that looks terrible...

BWAHAHAHAHAHA. Flash can't wear blue. Everybody knows blue isn't fast. He looks like Ant Man cosplaying as Flash. Poorly.
well, actully Jay Garrick wore blue pants as part of his costume since the 1940s...and Jay Garrick is the First Flash, so...Flash has been wearing blue for 72 years :]
So, the color scheme is pretty much the same. Its the hat which is the most different...
There is no Hermes influence in that electric bug looking thing you call a helmet..
My God! Is DC just completely incapable of coming up with a decent design? This butcher's parade of eyesores is unbearable. Who would actually want to draw that costume several dozen times an issue? If you are incapable of improving on the pre-existing design... especially say a design that has endured for 7 decades... then leave it alone. I don't know who that clown is that's running through the sewer, but that's not Jay Garrick. Couldn't be.

hmmm, maybe it's just me, but I actually like this redesign, especially compared to the horrendous ones they've shown for some of their other earth-2 characters.
The helmet is so-so, but the costume looks bad ass, especially with the bolt offset to the side like that.
Totally agree.
The way that the yellow bolt comes up is the only thing that I perceive as a negative from the design... depending on further depictions, I may not mind it. I certainly think that it is different... but don't have a huge problem with the difference.
Now... I've been flipping around tons of pages on the internets looking at people's comments on this design... (resisting commenting on their reactions)... and nowhere thus far have I seen a reaction that was similar to my own... namely that this reminds me a touch of CSA Johnny Quick... closer re-examinations of the designs might suggest why, but some element of it still lingers... especially around the helmet designs... surely I can't be the only one that sees this?
I'm pretty excited. I loved the old Jay Garrick (previous and elderly, both meanings) but I'm excited to see where this goes. Quite frankly, the elder JSAers had worn on me a bit in the past few years... not saying that they're all done and that their old forms have no value... just that I think a little bit of break and revision could potentially do them well. As others have stated, the return to their other state would be a rather simple writeup... and because of that I'm cool to let them rest and let their younger representations take hold. After all, I did always wonder what much younger Jay and Allen would be like.
Sadly, the "This is not the JSA" message is ringing pretty clearly now, which only makes me sad because it bodes ill for my most loved of bottom tier characters... but the further they push this title away from being JSA, the more hopeful I become for an actual Justice Society launch coming in the future.

Funnily enough, I was gonna post something similar to this...
So it's not Wally. And Garrick's costume does look lame.
Edit: Why don't the .gif's I post ever move...
Edit again: It works! :D

@TheOptimist: Haha, I was actually thinking the same thing about Johnny Quick, I just kept the thought to myself. The helmet also reminds me of Mento's when he appeared in Doom Patrol about 2 years ago.
Oh thank goodness... it might seem strange, but I was feeling slightly uncomfortable and insecure about it! And yes on the Mento helmet, I totally see that now...

Well, good news then Pongo old chap, at least you don't have to be upset that Wally's costume doesn't meet your fancy just yet!
@ZombieBigfoot: Got it. Thanks :)
@ArturoCalaKayVee: Not good, but at least I'd know that Wally's ok. He could be dead for all we know :(
@Gambit1024: If Wally is dead...or doesn't exist....may God have mercy on their souls' because even The Spectre will fear my wraith. Same goes for Donna and Garth. (I know Garth was mentioned in RHatO but we've yet to see him.)
@The_Tree: Exactly. But with reboot, there's a chance they revived him. I see no point in killing/removing most of the original side kicks just because DC has created a new wave of Teen Titans. What do Roy and Dick have that makes them so special that Donna, Wally, and Garth don't have? Don't get me wrong, I'm a HUGE Dick fan (that sounds REALLY wrong..) and I like Roy (at times) but Wally is a legend, Garth is AWESOME, and Donna is a bad ass. In my opinion, it would only be fair to either keep all the first gen side kicks or remove them all together, which I know DC won't do.

@ArturoCalaKayVee: I don't think we'll be seeing Garth any time soon, considering he died in Blackest Night.
I remember hearing that the red beast-boy look-a-like on Ravagers is supposed to actually be BB.
The red-beast IS beast boy. He's red because of what ever is happening in AnimalMan/SwampThing. He'll return to green soon enough, hopefully.

Just to make sure I didn't bring up something irrelevant, are you guys talking about BB, or some other Garth?
@The_Tree: Oh, I know that, but they shouldn't rule Wally out completely. Especially since DC knows how many people are COMPLAINING about Wally's limbo status. They can keep jackson, just keep Garth also. Aquaman gave up being apart of Atlantis, it needs a king. Garth can be King and Jackson can be his Aqualad. Though, I don't really know where Jackson has been since Aquaman has left Atlantis. I doubt he's been chillin down there.
@ZombieBigfoot: Hahaha oops, I meant Tempest, not Beast Boy.

Oh, I see. Carry on then.
I like jay's costume, its a modernized version of his older one, I just wish the lightning bolt wasnt running down his leg, but other than that I like it.
