I could totally see it happening. If they kill of the original joker Jason might become the next one.
Dick has already taken up batman and since the original joker was the red hood once himself It could be a continues cycle for jason too.
Jason Todd
Character » Jason Todd appears in 1755 issues.
Jason Todd was the second Robin, until he was brutally murdered by the Joker. After he was resurrected, Jason learned Batman didn't avenge his death. Anguished and seeking vengeance, he initially turned against his mentor and father figure and took on the Clown Prince's former identity: the Red Hood. He eventually returned to the Bat-Family and assembled a team of anti-heroes known as the Outlaws.
What if Jason becomes the next Joker?
I think he's too much of his own character to take up the role of another iconic villain...And yet the Joker was the Red Hood. Jason will never be his own man.
@RUSTMAN said:Dude, almost everybody whoever read a comic knows who Jason Todd is, that's better than most characters masked namesakes. That crap about never having his own identity is like saying every legacy character should just slit their wrists right now.I think he's too much of his own character to take up the role of another iconic villain...And yet the Joker was the Red Hood. Jason will never be his own man.
The Red Hood was a namesake of little consequence til Jason took it. Sure it was a part of Joker's origin which was finally utilized effectively by Alan Moore but it had certainly been eclipsed for the last two decades by the image of Jack Napier the public at large associated with the Joker. The Red Hood was actually about transformation. From mook to homicidal clown. From Boy Wonder to murderous Vigilante.Jason though, turned the Red Hood from a drop into a vat of acid, into a new DC icon.
It reminds me of how Tim became a new Joker in Batman Beyond. It wouldn't be too far fetched, since Jason is already pretty unhinged... I just don't think he has a sense of humour.
Red Hood/Joker: Knock Knock.
Batman: Who's there?
Red Hood/Joker: Dead parents.
Robin: He got jokes. He got jokes...
Sorry but all of you saying that Jason needs his own identity then turning around saying he should be the next Joker to fill that role because him being the Red Hood is a knock off of the Joker before he became the Joker is a joke. You want him to establish his own identity and become his own person. Well he can't do that under the shadow of Joker II. He brought a fan following to the Red Hood mantle. Joker was the Red Hood first and turned to a significant crime lord. Jason took the name as a renegade vigilante to do what, in his mind, was what Gotham City needed. Bad guys being killed to show that he ain't f***ing around any more. Jason as a new Joker=epic fail for DC.
Jason becoming Joker is not going to happen. Considering that Jason is getting his own title with Arsenal and Starfire makes it very unlikely.
I think the idea was to make him like the Joker without him realizing it, but if he actually becomes Joker then...that won't really have the same effect. That'll just be like "what are you dumb?" He's already been the Red Hood too, which was--i believe--officially a Joker persona, so it's kind of already been done.
This is how Morrison makes more of his storyline, just without the awesomeness of Black Dynamite.@DeathpooltheT1000: wow u have something against morrison
No, not the orphans!!!
Than I apologize for this inconvenient thread. Why does people is getting mad, just because, most of us, dont think the same that they?
WTF is wrong with this place?
So @Bopper Girl: I see where you are getting your ideas and your sense for the"what if" story. And it could be a good story. But in a way its already been done. You have your Return of the Joker in Batman Beyond which, I know its not Tim actually taking on the Joker persona as himself its more of the Joker taking over Tims body but still a Robin has already been turned into the Joker. And I know its not really the same but it still kinda is.
@DeathpooltheT1000: Well to be honest bro they don't really get mad. They are using what most people call sarcasm. Your jokes can only go so far with some people. So not everyone is going to give you an lol response some will actually joke back sarcastically its just a matter of being able to tell. I know that sometimes its hard to define whether or not its a joke or not but it gets easier with practice. Bopper was saying that to you as a joke to yours. She like Morrison and believes the way that he was going with Jason could've ended up leading to Jason becoming the Joker. And in a sense she's right. The way Morrison was going about Jason had a very distinct Joker feel to it.I am the only human that use the (Sarcasm) thing, to show i am being sarcastic, is hard to know since there is no voice on the letter and for the same, know if its sarcasm get really hard.

Also most of peole on this forums get mad, because people dont like the same things.
Jason doesn't have it in him to be a true psychopath like the Joker. He's not really evil, even when he's trying to be.
To paraphase the Social Network; "You're not an ***hole, Jason, you're just trying really hard to be"
I agree. Like Cyclops, Jason was kind of robbed of a regular childhood. They were thrust into a position of overwhelming authority and responsibility, and now that they're on ther own, they're (from a Freudian perspective) rebelling against the initial constraints of their teachings and trying to find their own way. But neither can completely ignore what their "fathers" taught them. There's a reason Jason doesn't kill kids or innocents, it's just not in him.@FadeToBlackBolt: Its true. Making Jason the Joker would be making him something he is most definitely not.
I don't know. It depends on how it plays out. I rather see Jason as the next Bane rather than the Joker.
