Catch A Preview 'Under The Red Hood' In Upcoming 'Crisis' DVD

First look at 'Batman: Under The Red Hood' will be featured on the 'Crisis on Two Earths' DVD

 Click, click--boom!

We saw some clips for the upcoming Justice League Crisis On Two Earths that got a lot of you very excited over the upcoming movie. Well guess what? There's more to be excited about! Don't believe me?  According to the LATimes, with the release of the disc on February 23rd, we will also get a first promo look at Batman: Under The Red Hood. That's right, everyone's favorite psychotic member of the bat-family will be getting a movie all about him and I cannot wait for the preview! What's not to love? The script is written by Judd Winick who has had plenty of experience writing Jason Todd, and will be based on his 2005 Batman story arc, Under The Red Hood; the original story that brought Jason Todd back from the dead. Not only will we get to see Winick's masterpiece animated on the small screen, but the film will be produced by the legendary Bruce Timm. The film will be directed Brandon Vietti (Superman Doomsday). So far we know the cast will include Jensen Ackles as Red Hood, Neil Patrick Harris as Nightwing, John DiMaggio as the Joker and Jason Isaacs as Ra's Al Ghul.

This is by far one of my favorite Batman stories, so I am very excited about catching the sneak peak with the release of Justice League Crisis On Two Earths. Not only that, but the proposed cast seems pretty stellar, what do you guys think? Will you watch it?

I don't think anyone's going to be able to voice the joker without being unfavourably compared to Mark Hammil's Joker. He's the best and we all know it, everything else pales into comparision

I think Neil Patrick Harris and John DiMaggio  are great voice actors but I don't see them as Dick Grayson and Joker. I am not familiar with the actors playing Batman and Ra's al ghul. I think the best casting is Jensen Ackles as Jason Todd since he has a very gravely voice it might match the resurrected Jason. The last time I was skeptical about a voice cast for these DC movies was Justice League the New Frontier and that was one of my favorite animated DVD's so I hope this will be the same.

Why take the chance of having someone other then Mark Skywalker as the Joker.  They must no something we don't cuz more then Conroy is Batman Hammil is the Joker.  I want to see this movie tho and don't remember Ra's being in the comic story.

You had me at Neil Patrick Harris.

While I'm not too crazy about the Crisis movie, I think the preview might be the only reason I'd ever buy the DVD.....either that, or I'd just find it on Youtube.

I wonder if they're going to put in some Death in the Family flashbacks, for those who might not be familiar with Jason Todd's story.

NPH as nightwing hmmm..... I dont know about this, he did an ok job on that MTV spiderman thing.

I never read this story since I hate the idea of a resurrected Jason Todd and I've never heard a favorable review of a Judd Winick script.  However, because the track record of DC's animated movies has been pretty stellar, I'll probably take a chance on this.

I guess I'll have to get it just for NPH

Wow, I am pumped on this, Jason Isaacs as Ra's al'Ghul... awesome!

Firstly I'm amped about this. Jensen Ackles will bring a lot to Red Hood and anything with NPH has my interest (he was perfect as Flash in New Frontier, though i still think Milo Ventimiglia could voice a killer Nightwing), and Jason Isaacs as Ra's Al Ghul is sure to be right up there with David Warner and Liam Neeson's awesome portrayals. That said, I like John DiMaggio as a voice actor, i'm just not convinced he's as versatile as other actors and I fear Joker will sound a lot like other characters he's played.

Oh, God, no. No, no, no, no, no, no, NO! Winnick's comics are just awful; who on Earth would ever let him go write a movie? Brining back Jason Todd was one of the sleaziest moves in Bat history, he would have been better off dead and left alone. The A Death in the Family storyarc handled everything beautifully and added much to Batman's character. Jason was Batman's greatest failure, and what happened served to humble the Dark Knight and to rethink his ideas about orphan sidekicks.

Swwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwweet! That was one of my fav arcs too. Jason is the coolest Bat-nut job ever!

I never really dug the whole Crisis on earth-whatchamacallit movie, it looks like just another regular BORING JL Unlimited episode, and nothing above that. But this promo makes buying the DVD actually worth it.

JASON, BABY....WHOOOOOT!

oh, i cannot agree at all! Superman/Doomsday was good the first 30 mins. after that it turned into the "Bizarro clone" episode from the animated series..only no Bizarro... (not even that!). It sucked big time, just like the Bat-ani-matrix crap Gotham Knight was...
Wonder Woman was off the mark, but entertaining, i'll give you that...  and Green Lantern? Holy crap...that was a spit on the face of all that the GL mythos entails--- Kinda fun to watch yeah, but not great in any aspect. The only Movie I've actually liked a lot was New Frontier...that one i'll say was great...

This Crisis flick is gonna suck too...I just know it. Maybe the Red Hood one will actually be worth watching!

Well NPH did do a good Barry Allen, and he does have the cheeriness in his voice that could make a good Nightwing, I wonder if they are leaving the Black Mask part of the storyline in.

Being around when this character first came out, I never thought I'd read those words from another comic fan

@FrischDVH:  People tend to forget that Jason Todd was killed by popular demand.

Meh, I'd rather see a Hush film. Still, I am interested in seeing animated Jason.
#28 Posted by mystery997 (66 posts) - 3 years, 3 months ago - Show Bio

No one can voice theses caracters like their predecessors Mark Hamil, Kevin Conroy
having Jason tood cause pandamonium and fight the bat hkmself is the best animated dc movie to ever come out. Everyone who is reading this including You Babs This movie will make everyone go crazy and make the batman lovers love these heroes and villains that much more .

For all the bad people say about bringing back Jason Todd, it does show what can happen if it goes wrong with a sidekick. All the training Batman gave Todd turned him into a living weapon

@FrischDVH:

I didn't think he was that great of a Robin, although he did make for some interesting plot developments, but as Red Hood, he's awesome.

I think this is going to be my favorite animated feature. I watched the preview/first look on the Crisis Blu-ray last night. Holy crap! I love that they're acknowledging "A Death In The Family." Not something I expected. Bruce Greenwood sounds good as Batman and of course Neil Patrick Harris is great as Nightwing.

That cast looks pretty amazing.  I hope they keep whoever is voicing Batman secret for a little while longer.  Jensen Ackles as Red Hood and Jason Isaacs may be a couple of the best voice casting choices I've seen in a while.

I've read Batman Under the Hood, so I'm very excited about this! Can't wait to see Jason animated!
