    Wolverine #300 will be the beginning of the end for Jason Aaron's run on Wolverine and according to him, this will be the "biggest Wolverine story [he] has ever done." The writer who has been writing Wolverine for "as long as [he] has been writing comics" will be leaving the series, and Wolverine #300 will launch his final story arc.

    No Caption Provided

    Long before Wolverine went to Hell, Jason Aaron had wanted to return the character to Japan. It seems that through this next story arc, Aaron will be getting the chance to do exactly that. Wolverine #300 will also introduce a new Silver Samurai, a brand new version of the character. This new Silver Samurai will be the head of the Yoshida, and will take over over as the leader of this clan now that the original Silver Samurai is dead.

    == TEASER ==

    A brand new, updated version of Silver Samurai won't be the only character making his return to Wolverine's life; the new story arc will also see the return of Sabretooth to Wolverine's life, as well. Sabretooth will return in a story preceding Wolverine #300 and will be explained in a story by Jeph Loeb and Simone Bianchi.

    No Caption Provided

    The Hand will also be an important factor in the story, according to Aaron.

    Kingpin plays a big part in the issue preceding #300," Aaron states. Then the story shifts to Japan, where folks aren't necessarily happy that an overweight American has taken over The Hand. We jump around the country [Japan]," Aaron says. "It does give me a chance to throw all the stuff I love about Japanese culture and cinema into one book.

    Aaron has big plans for Silver Samurai, as well. The character, according to Aaron, "has legs" and he has plans for him beyond this upcoming story arc. What do you think of the preview images to Wolverine #300? Have you enjoyed Jason Aaron's run on Wolverine? Wolverine #300 hits store shelves in January and will feature art from Adam Kubert, Steven Sanders and Ron Garney.

    Wow! 300 issues? With so many titles coming and going I guess the total headcount must be that... Never been all that interested in Wolverine (especially on his Samurai stories, unless it involves Kitty) still I heard very good things from Aaron's run! Farewell Jason!

    That's Marvel being tacky again and using the retroactive larger number based on the total number of all Wolverine ongoing volume issues so they can push out another anniversary issue that they can charge way too much for.

    @wowylied: It's number 300 if you count all of the issues from his previous solo series.

    If Rick Remender was not so busy i would love to see him take over, he writes the best Wolverine IMO.

    So he's leaving this and Punisher Max is coming to an end as well, I would really like to see him pick up writing duties for Deadpool and turn that back around and totally erase the turd stories that Daniel Way has been writing for that book. Deadpool could really use the Remender or Jason Aaron makeover and style of story telling.

    This is good I would rather him leave before he was spread to thin. Since he's on everything now.

    Also I really was bemused with the current Chinatown story arcs. The first hell and back types were great.

    I agree with whoever mentioned Remender. on the Eve of the conclusion of the Dark Angel Saga, I'm confident in saying that Uncanny X-force is likely the best Marvel arc in almost a decade. Def the best X book since the Morrison and then early Astonishing run.

    You know I am all about Jasons Aarons Wolverine, but the idea of Sabertooth coming back is...well I don't like it at all to be honest. He died, and should stay dead. Leave Loeb out of it, don't bring back Sabertooth, and for once in the lives of comic books, let a character stay dead. Oh wait, this will never happen.

    Jason Aaron has probably been the best Wolverine writer in recent times. Aside from Rick Remender on Uncanny X-Force. This could be an awesome send off to Aaron's run.

    The original Thunderbird is still dead, sure he sometimes gets resurrected for a storyarc but always returns to being dead again. Of course he is the ONLY exception and for the most part you are right.

    (of course his younger brother Warpath is basically exactly the same character so thats probably the main reason for Thunderbird not returning to the living)

    It was predictable that he would leave shortly after WAXM begun. He's growing and expanding out and he put in the normal time on this book.

    The seeds of the story your describing sprout already at the very end of Wolverines Revenge. He's done an excellent and even surprising job with this

    book, and I've been happy to read it. I wonder if the push to do a Japan story with Silver Samurai at all is due to the Wolverine Origins film sequel also

    dealing with the same subject matter.

    @BransonHuggins:

    Given the events of Wolverine Goes To Hell it would actually make very little sense at all if Sabretooth didn't return from Hell. Wolverine, Puck, and apparently Silver Samurai as well as a host of others likely followed Wolverine to freedom once he broke the devil (Namor actually as well, and X-23 had her dealings with this as well). He did leave the sword right where Creed could get a hold of it after all. Just my opinion.

    Nothing like a Larry Hama / Bob Harras Story arc , idk i dont think wolverine is a character that should be handled by writers who dont have the background reference to even qualify as a " wolverine " writer .

    Back to japan? silversamurai , cmon Wolverine Character should be more elaborate with the story . Unraveling Celestial left mutated tribes who've been around in organized stealth missions & breaking new grounds of technology , encountering new beings across the universe like he has done before . Logan is a character that would give a writer unlimited new ideas of quest just because of his power stunts capability of enduring extreme environments .

    So i'll pick up one of these " new" issues when they stop recycling the same conflicts . act like logans healing factor & move on wit it .

    QFT.

    Sabretooth is back? Sigh, can we not let sleeping (or dead) comic characters lie?

    Logan should just head his two (14?) teams and Laura should be the only lone Wolverine out there with a series IMO
