Black Panther #39 (Second Print Variant)
Black Panther Battles The Skrulls To A Second Printing!
I'll admit I didn't pick this issue up. The series has been hit or miss with me. The art seemed a little off too. Some of these tie-ins just feel like filler. It's good that they're being included because it'd be just silly to think that this Invasion was going on without affecting the entire Marvel Universe.
Marvel is proud to announce that Black Panther #39 has sold out at Diamond (though copies may be available at the retail level) and will return with Black Panther #39 Second Printing Variant! As Secret Invasion is underway, everyone continues to ask, “Who Do You Trust?” and the Skrulls make their attempt to conquer the nation of Wakanda! Join rising star writer Jason Aaron (Ghost Rider), along with red-hot artist, Jefte Palo (X-Force: Ain’t No Dog), as Black Panther shows the Skrulls why Wakanda has never been conquered before! Plus, an all new explosive cover, featuring the interiors of Jefte Palo!
Bryan Joel of IGN.com said, “Jason Aaron's got another winner on his hands. His first fill-in issue of Black Panther is a fantastic traditional superhero story that demonstrates why the character is cool, a concept that I've failed to see conveyed from the title before. This one has easily leapt to the top half of the SI tie-ins.”
Marvel urges retailers to check their orders on Secret Invasion and all tie-in issues, as they continue to sell out quickly at Diamond. Don’t miss your second chance for this Secret Invasion Tie-In! Make sure you check out Black Panther #39 Second Printing Variant!

Ghost Rider #26
Danny Ketch Returns with a Vengeance!
Danny Ketch! Yes! Forget Johnny Blaze. Yeah that's right. I said it. He bores me. Danny is the one that made Ghost Rider cool in the 90s. It's not his fault he was over-saturated and appeared in just about every single comic. But he was on fire...
Hell hath no fury like the Spirit of Vengeance, Ghost Rider! After Johnny Blaze squared off with the merciless Deacon last issue, a familiar face is about to return from Ghost Rider’s past in Ghost Rider #26! This is one high octane, supernatural issue you’re not going to want to miss, True Believers! Prepare for a double dose of the ghostly as Danny Ketch puts the pedal to the metal and furiously rides on again…but why is he opposing Johnn Blaze? Join red-hot writer, Jason Aaron (Wolverine, Scalped) as Danny Ketch makes his triumphant return to the Marvel U! With mind blowing interiors from rising artist Tan Eng Huat (Silver Surfer: In Thy Name), Danny has some surprises up his sleeve…and this is just the beginning!“
Ghost Rider is finally a book worth reading again…What Aaron does well is paint Blaze as a total badass… Aaron's knack for gritty characters and gritty situations shine through,” proclaimed Jesse Schedeen of IGN.com.
“Aaron writes this book with fearless swagger and his chin out,” raves Paul Brian McCoy of ComicsBulletin.com. “The man can freaking write. His Blaze and Ghost Rider have definite anger issues and are driven like never before. I just can't get over the energy here.”
Who has Danny Ketch brought to the party? Who is that yielding the hellfire shotgun? What will happen when Johnny Blaze confronts his long lost brother? Find out the answers to these questions and more as hell is about to be unleashed in Ghost Rider #26!

What's in store for our favorite mutants?
On hand for the panel was Craig Kyle (X-Force), Matt Fraction (Uncanny), Jason Aaron (Wolverine), CB Celbulski (Manifest Destiny), Daniel Way (Deadpool), Marjorie Liu (NYX), and Nick Lowe (Editor).
Matt Fraction mentioned the Hellfire Cult and Sisterhood of Evil Mutants will play out. Mutants will be moving in and out of the title in rotation. Dazzler will be back (as alluded to in issue 500).
Craig Kyle mentioned that issue six will wrap up the current storyline. The next storyline will have a focus on Warpath. There is also the Storm mini coming out (with Christopher Yost, who was stuck in traffic and couldn't be there).
Jason Aaron mentioned that he will have some unfinished business in China Town now that they are in San Francisco. He also wanted to make all the kung-fu movies he watched as a kid have meaning. There will be lots of action coming.
"Inferno 2" is coming
CB mentioned the return of MAGIK (and thanked Kyle and Yost for bringing her back). In December we will see
Ex Infernus, which will basically be Inferno 2. David Finch will be providing the covers.
Daniel Way said that his first arc with Wolverine is "in the bag." It's going to start out with a bang. We will be getting 5 parts over two months.
Marjorie Liu will be working on the sequel/relaunch of NYX.
A question was asked whether or not we will see Iceman. Apparently he will have a major role in
Manifest Destiny in September. Manifest Destiny will contain 8 page stories with Iceman's continuing throughout. It will mess with his powers and he will have a "big fight with a major X-Villain."
When asked about Juggernaut, he too will appear in Manifest Destiny. He will also show up later in another non-X-comic.
Will we see the return of Mojo? Not just yet. Spiral's more of a possibility.
What about Jean? "That's a good question," was the reply. No one really wanted to answer. Fraction finally said that it's discussed a lot and the "seeds are being planted."
Gambit will continue his presence in X-Men Legacy. He will return with Rogue. It will be seen that the reason he was with Sinister and the Marauders was to help Rouge.
Some obscure characters were asked about. Slipstream and Lifeguard
may be back in 2009. No plans for Cecilia Reyes. It was mentioned that they weren't even sure if she was still alive. Marjorie said she'd take her. The homeless mutant kids could use a good doctor.
Will Kitty Pryde's current situation be addressed? In Uncanny X-Men #504.
What about X-Statix? Nick feels they can't be done without Peter Milligan and Mike Allred.
What about the fact that we have Arcangel in X-Force and still have Angel in Uncanny? Continuity error? It seems we weren't supposed to notice this. Could it be something...Skrully?
Daken will see a change after the
Original Sin storyline. Could we see Daken and X-23 meet up? Very likely.
What about Sabretooth? Nick Lowe said he is dead and is
not coming back.

Issue 22 already? I think the last one I read was issue 3. It's weird that we don't hear more about Ghost Rider on the boards here. I do remember someone wanting the image of him with wings as the default pic on his page. I don't see any wings in the images here. So what has Johnny Blaze been up to? I did prefer Danny over Johnny. I know some may think that's not right. There was and is just something about Johnny that doesn't appeal to me. Not quite sure what exactly it is.
Combine sadistic, gun-toting nurses with evil man-eating ghosts and you get one hell of a day for Ghost Rider! Writer Jason Aaron’s critically acclaimed “Hell To Pay” story continues in Ghost Rider #22, the penultimate chapter of the action packed ride that leads into the stunning return of a character than we can only call the most shocking last page in Ghost Rider history! With gritty art from Roland Boschi and a powerful cover by rising star Mark Djurdjevic, now’s your chance to find out why critics and fans can’t stop raving about Ghost Rider!
“Aaron's knack for gritty characters and gritty situations shine through,” gushed Jesse Schedeen of IGN.Com. “Artist Roland Boschi draws a mean Ghost Rider to match.”
“This book has got guts,” exclaimed Bryant Frattalone of ComicsBulletin.Com. “Stick around for the ride.”
“Ghost Rider is one book that’ll get your heart racing past the redline in by the last page,” said Andy Serwin of WizardUniverse.Com
With Heaven in his sights and on his tail, Ghost Rider may just need some divine intervention to survive! Don’t miss Ghost Rider #22!

Whoa, looks like Mystique doesn't like wearing underwear. Then again, is she even wearing clothes? No I'm not even going to mention whatever they tried doing with the X-Men movies. That wasn't Mystique. But the question is, does she even wear clothes half the time? She can just change so she looks like she's wearing clothes.
This current storyline is pretty good. Weird to say that about a Wolverine story. Lately they've just been...okay. I like how we're seeing a little into the past between Logan and Raven. I also like how she keeps getting the upper hand over him. Pretty funny. She is good at what she does. It is interesting to see how obsessed Logan's becoming over getting her. Guess we'll see why in the flashbacks. And it's great seeing Ron Garney's art.
Bullet-ridden and consumed by a quest for vengeance, Logan has one objective—get Mystique and get revenge for her betrayal of the X-Men! Wolverine #64, an X-Men: Divided We Stand tie-in, continues the critically acclaimed “Get Mystique” arc from writer Jason Aaron (Ghost Rider) and artist Ron Garney (Amazing Spider-Man). Just how does the newly revealed history between Wolverine & Mystique affect their current conflict? And just what favor could the X-man call in to deal with Mystique?
Critics and fans agree—this is the Wolverine story you must read, with Ryan Broussard of Comixtreme.Com saying, “This story has depth, action, history, and just overall impressive writing.”
“‘Get Mystique’ is turning Wolverine into the book I anticipate the most every month,” gushed Bryan Joel of IGN.Com.
Don’t miss any of the x-plosive events in the penultimate chapter of “Get Mystique,” as Wolverine and Mystique head towards what may be their final battle! It’s Wolverine #64—and nothing can stop Logan now, bub!

I really don't know what to make of this. It's going to have a great writer and artist but there's something about these solo Wolverine stories. Especially the ones set...elsewhere. They never really seem to have much of an impact on his continuity. They almost feel like filler issues. I hate to say that. With all the stuff going down in Messiah CompleX and the upcoming X-Force, this just doesn't really get me excited. I see this is supposed to have connections to the end of Messiah but the images below don't really sell me that much. We'll see.
In the aftermath of Messiah CompleX, Wolverine is set on a quest for vengeance—and he’s got some new friends to help him make it happen! In Wolverine #62, an X-Men: Divided We Stand tie-in, red-hot (and newly-Marvel Exclusive) author Jason Aaron (Scalped) and fan-favorite artist Ron Garney (Amazing Spider-Man) set Logan on a bezerker barrage for someone who’s role in Messiah CompleX is so huge, so pivotal that they may just get snikt’d! Now that Wolverine has seen the cost of this war over the new mutant child, he’s not about to let the responsible parties get away!
“Jason and Ron deliver a high-octane chase movie that’ll have you gasping…and that sheds new light on Logan’s long and complicated relationship with another core X-Men character,” says X-Men Group Editor Axel Alonso.
Spinning out of the red-hot, sold-out Messiah CompleX, Marvel urges retailers to check their orders on Wolverine #62 and all Divided We Stand branded series. Wolverine’s done revenge before, but now that it’s so personal, is he willing to go over the edge to get what he wants?

This just in. I do like the idea of the Pilot Season. Give some comics a shot. Let's see if they're any good. Let's have the publishers put out what we actually want to read.
MySpace To Serve As Exclusive Home for Top Cow's Pilot Season Voting!
Top Cow Productions announced at their panel in WizardWorld Chicago that MySpace, the leading online social networking site, will be the exclusive home of the fan voting for their Pilot Season promotion.
Pilot Season is an innovative promotion in which Top Cow will publish six "pilot issues" starring established Top Cow characters, which are currently without a regular series, and then allows fans to vote which two characters will receive their own series in 2008. The program was inspired in part by the television model of running pilot episodes for new series before greenlighting a series for full production. The first pilot issue debuted at WizardWorld Chicago this weekend starring Cyberforce's resident badass Ripclaw with a story by Eisner nominee Jason Aaron (Scalped, The Other Side) and Jorge Lucas (Incredible Hulk, Annihilation: Ronin) and featuring a dynamic cover by Tony Moore (The Walking Dead, The Exterminators). This issue will be followed in September by pilot issues starring Velocity by Joe Casey (Uncanny X-Men) and Kevin Maguire (Superman/Batman) and Cyblade by Joshua Hale Fialkov (Elk's Run) and Rick Mays (Zatana), then in October The Angelus by Ian Edington (Warhammer: 40,000) and Stjepan Sejic (First Born) and The Necromancer by Joshua Ortega (Frank Frazetta's Death Dealer) and Jonboy Meyers (Ninja Scroll), and finally in November, Aphrodite IX by Dan Jevons (Enclave video game) and Eric Basaldua (Hunter-Killer).Voting will commence online in early December after the release of the final pilot issue and will run through the end of January 2008. The two most popular vote-getters will receive their own series in 2008.
In teaming with MySpace, Top Cow has the opportunity to take the level of fan interactivity to new heights. The partnership will be promoted not only to the existing base of comic book fans on MySpace who number over 130,000 but to the MySpace community at large. By logging on to the Pilot Season homepage (www.myspace.com/pilotseason) fans will be able to get all the latest information on Pilot Season, interact directly with creators, receive advanced looks at the issues, and participate in polls. Fans are encouraged to promote their favorite character on MySpace pages and the top fan pages will be placed on the Pilot Season home page as "Top Friends". When voting opens in December, fans will be able to vote on the MySpace Pilot Season home page with one of two options. The first option is a completely open vot, which will not require logging into MySpace. The second option will be to log into a MySpace account and enter a secret voting code (a portion of which will be included in every Pilot Season issue). Voters who opt for the second option and enter the secret voting code will have their votes weighed heavier than those who vote without the code. Neither voting option will have any restrictions on the number of times a person can vote per day. Fans are encouraged to check out all six pilot issues in order to make an educated voting decision.
"I can honestly say that joining forces with MySpace for Pilot Season has me more excited than anything we've done since I've come on board with Top Cow," commented Vice President of Marketing and Sales, Filip Sablik, "From the creative teams, the fresh takes on the characters, and the fans being able to directly tell us what they want to see more of, Pilot Season is a fresh concept for comics. And MySpace is the perfect vehicle to stimulate maximum fan interactivity. Sign up and participate, it's up to you!"
Additional and updated information regarding Pilot Season can be found at its official profile, www.myspace.com/pilotseason.

Top Cow is doing a "Pilot Season" with some of their characters. What does that mean? Here's how they put it:
Pilot (noun): television show produced and filmed or taped as a sample of a proposed series.
This Fall, Top Cow is launching 7 Pilot Issues starring fan favorite characters currently without a series. After all 7 issues have been released, fans will be able to VOTE online and pick 2 characters to get greenlit for their own all-new series in 2008. It's up to you!
I can say that this is a good issue. You can check out my review: www.comicvine.com/comic/ripclaw-pilot-season/18957/112412//#reviews
I think it's going to be tough to pick just one to get it's own series.
(W) Jason Aaron
(A)Jorge Lucas
(Cov) Tony Moore
Eisner nominated writer Jason Aaron (Scalped, The Other Side) joins up with artist Jorge Lucas (Incredible Hulk, Annihilation: Ronan) to unleash Top Cow's resident badass in the first of eight special one-shots published under the Pilot Season 2007 initiative. The killer team is joined by intense cover artist Tony Moore (The Walking Dead, Exterminators).
To kill the Yakuza kingpin called Boss Yamamoto, you'd have to fight your way through level after deadly level of his secret fortress, past an army of gun-toting thugs and sword-wielding assassins. No one has ever been foolish enough to try. Enter Ripclaw. The fan-favorite character returns to the spotlight as dangerous as ever and fighting as if hell is at is his back.

Uhm...I'm not sure what the heck is going on in this preview. At first, I thought that dude getting out of bed was an old tubby version of Wolvie. I wasn't too thrilled with the last arc with the battle against Sabretooth. I really hope this next writer can return Logan to what he should be. I still say the best protrayal of him is in New Avengers.
With the blood of Sabretooth still fresh on his claws and the mystery of Romulus still haunting his memory, the man known as Logan leaps into a new adventure in the double-sized Wolverine #56! Up-and-coming writer Jason Aaron (The Other Side, Scalped) and legendary artist Howard Chaykin (Blade, American Flagg!) takes the reigns on the book starring Marvel’s favorite Canadian berserker!
Although Wolverine normally lets his adamantium claws do the talking, this time he must try and reason with the man named Wendell Rayfield, a recently divorced, ex-cop who is looking to end it all. The one catch…in his desperation Rayfield has taken a job to kill Wolverine! (Well, if Rayfield is looking to end it all, then this was certainly the right job to take!)
Be sure to read the special, double-sized Wolverine #56 if only to see the savage Wolverine try to reason with a man hell-bent on trying to slaughter the X-Man with a giant machine gun!

I wonder what he's been up to since I last read about him.
Top Cow is pleased to announce that the inaugural issue of the Pilot Season 2007 promotion will be Ripclaw Pilot Season #1. Pilot Season 2007 is a series of six self contained one shot specials, each featuring a different established Top Cow character currently without a regular series. After all six issues have been released, fans will be given the opportunity to vote online to determine which two characters receive a series in 2008.
Ripclaw Pilot Season #1 features the founding member of Top Cow's original team Cyberforce in a unique light. The Top Cow Universe's resident badass enters the spotlight as he takes on Yakuza kingpin, Boss Yamamoto. But first he'll have to fight his way through level after brutal level of deadly gun-toting thugs and sword-wielding assassins. The genre mashing tale is written by Eisner nominee and Vertigo darling Jason Aaron (Scalped, The Other Side) and Marvel regular Jorge Lucas (Incredible Hulk, Annihilation: Ronin). This initial issue features an intense cover by Tony Moore (The Walking Dead, Exterminators) demonstrating why Ripclaw is not to be crossed.
"My goal with this book was to give Ripclaw a new direction and purpose, something that would be accessible to new readers," said writer Jason Aaron, "But at the same time, we haven't turned our backs on what made Ripclaw so popular to begin with: he's a guy with big claws, and those claws stay good and bloodied."
"Ripclaw is a complex character whose portrayals in the past haven't always shown that," commented Rob Levin, VP of Editorial for Top Cow. "Beginning with Jason's skillful characterization and an incredible story matched only by Jorge's insanely detailed art, we're going to changing some minds and cause a few double takes when people pick this book up off the shelf."
Ripclaw Pilot Season #1 is a 32 page full color comic with a suggested retail price of $2.99.
