A Jar Jar Rant Rant

This might as well be the first post in the Board since something is grinding my gears...

Yes, What is grinding Midnight's Gears now? I'm glad you asked...I hate it when people start Hatin' on Jar Jar Binks. Yes...You heard me right Jar Jar Binks.

Now, You've all heard that "The Prequel Trilogy was'nt that great. It was more aimed at kids". What? The Original was more adult? None of the Star Wars films contained R-Rated stuff and it's stupid to expect it. Now, a Big Reason people did'nt like the Prequels was because of Jar Jar. Surfing the web you'll find comments like Jar Jar should Die Die or I used to have a Lego Jar Jar but then I burned it. Now, Why must you hate on Jar Jar binks? You see, In an Odd Twisted way, Jar Jar represented the C-3PO of the present. He was the Comic Relief. Kevin Smith the creator of Clerks and a Writer on several comic books including Daredevil...said this.

Seeing Princess Leia and Han solo kiss....Was like that generation's version of Porn

The Kiss was cut short by C-3PO and yet nobody ever hated C-3PO quite like they did Jar Jar, Which brings me back to my point....Why?

http://www.youtube.com/v/4k_ZVPB-4sY width=425 height=355 type=application/x-shockwave-flash wmode="transparent">Watch closly as C-3PO ruins it. Now, Why the Mindless Jar Jar hating? Jar Jar is even a Senator in some of the movies, He watch's over Natilie Portman's character. (He can stay in the same room with Portman, He's a Babe Magnet).

And so the next time, You hate on Jar Jar....Remember two things.

One: He could've ruined a monumental Kissing scene.

Two: He could turn into a Sith and kill you.

After seeing all three of the prequels, I can safely say that Jar Jar was one of the most minor reasons why I didn't like them. He was an irritating and pointless piece of comedic window-dressing, as well as an excuse for ILM to show off their CGI technology.

I actually agree with the C-3PO comparison to an extent. Threepio was an irritation in Empire Strikes Back and flat out obnoxious in Return of the Jedi. I don't even want to talk about how awful and unfunny he was in the prequels. But his interruption of the kiss was a good thing. It brought the scene to a realistic end and kept the kiss at an appropriate length. I didn't need to see Han and Leia mauling each other for ten minutes; the kiss is a tender, deeply personal moment where time stands still, and C-3PO served his purpose by bringing the Han and Leia back down to reality.

As for Kevin Smith's opinion on the matter...Smith is a Star Wars fanboy of the highest order, who thinks George Lucas craps gold and farts butterflies. He would sooner cut off his own arm than say anything negative about Lucas' work. He also completely misses the point of the criticism of Jar Jar. Everyone knows that Jar Jar was supposed to be comic relief, and that's fine. The point is that he was cheap, childish, stupid comic relief, like a walking talking fart joke. He served no purpose in the film other than to make the kiddies laugh, and far too many scenes in the film were created just to showcase his stupid, unfunny antics. The whole 'Jar Jar is a general now!' plotline should have been cut from the final movie and replaced with something interesting and useful.
