'Star Trek Into Darkness' Video Announcement

Posted by G-Man (25939 posts) - 5 months, 17 days ago - Show Bio

Earlier this week, Paramount debuted a teaser poster for Star Trek Into Darkness. There hasn't been too much information revealed about the sequel to the 2009 reboot movie.

Paramount issued the following synopsis back in November:

When the crew of the Enterprise is called back home, they find an unstoppable force of terror from within their own organization has detonated the fleet and everything it stands for, leaving our world in a state of crisis.

With a personal score to settle, Captain Kirk leads a manhunt to a war-zone world to capture a one man weapon of mass destruction.

As our heroes are propelled into an epic chess game of life and death, love will be challenged, friendships will be torn apart, and sacrifices must be made for the only family Kirk has left: his crew.

Now we can find out a little more. The following video announcement has just been released:

Thoughts? We'll have to wait until December 17 to see the full teaser I guess.

So, now we know what Sherlock did after he gave up detective work.

Is this Gary Mitchell?

Honestly, I can see why they originally attempted to cast Edgar Ramirez. He played a top-of-his-game terrorist/interloper in Carlos who was out for vengeance against....well everyone who didn't embrace Marxism. It seems similar to this role, as long as you swap Western nations/Israel for the UFP and Starfleet and give him central protagonists to face off against (Kirk, Spock, etc.)

Kinda reminds me of Iron Man 3 teaser - bad guy talking and then stuff blows up at the end. The storyline doesn't sound very interesting either except for that 'one man WMD' quote which I'm still trying to figure out. Despite all that I'm still gonna watch it ... J.J. Abrams you have my £10 sir

@blur1528 that's what Paramount called it when they sent me the info. Guess it's a teaser for the teaser. We'll see more on the 17th.

Cool trailer, but I'm not sure about the villain yet.

#11 Posted by dondasch (921 posts) - 5 months, 17 days ago - Show Bio

I have seen instances, coming directly from actors within the movie, who indicate that Gary Mitchell will be the villain. Looks very, very interesting.

Hate this teaser for a teaser crap

#23 Posted by danhimself (18745 posts) - 5 months, 17 days ago - Show Bio

yup gotta be Gary Mitchell....which is awesome because I always felt like he would be an awesome villain for these movies and today's modern special effects

oh man after seeing the Japanese trailer I'm a little unsure about it being Gary Mitchell or if it's Kahn now

#25 Posted by DarthLydia (107 posts) - 5 months, 17 days ago - Show Bio

wow, that one line at the end of the japanese trailer makes all the difference in the world. But seriously, it could be either Mitchell or Kahn at this point

I've never been a fan of Star Trek, but I did enjoy the last film, so I'll probably enjoy this one too :)

I say its either Kirk or Spock's brother. Kirk was suppose to have a brother in the first one but they deleted the scenes from the movie. George Samuel Kirk or Sybok maybe? Especially with all the talk about family.

I have only one complaint: I did not see a single red coat die in the teaser. Other than that the movie looks extremely better than the previous.

#29 Posted by CosmicKnowledge (7 posts) - 5 months, 16 days ago - Show Bio

Doesnt really look that special to me, nothing interesting really stands out in this trailer. First one was really good tho. So im not surprised if they cant top it. will see thoo

That little bit at the end of this trailer. Not in the American version! Are they killing off Spock again? Cause I know what that little glimpse reminds me of...

hmmm l wonder who the villain is? some rendition of Khan? but that may be too obvious ... however i think it's safe to say they are paying homage to the original star trek 2 here.

that's what makes me think it's Kahn...or they could be throwing us for a loop and killing Spock with Mitchell or someone else as the villain

Here's hoping that the only difference between the Dec. 17th trailer and this is a closing shot of Chris Pine screaming "KAAAAAHHHHHNNNN!" at the camera.
