June 29th of 2012. I'm glad to see it's at least 2 1/2 years. I hate it when sequels get rushed. JJ Abrams, as Ain't It Cool reported, is not attached yet, but I'm hoping he continues his brand of this franchise. I've always been a big fan of the Star Trek films, even the bad ones, but I never really got into the show. This new film, which I remained skeptical about when I first heard about it, really raised the bar of the franchise.the Untitled STAR TREK sequel is scheduled to be released June 29th, 2012... Now, it is also true that JJ is not officially helming this one, at least that hasn't been formally announced or decided yet.
There's so many new opportunities now since this film takes place in it's own parallel universe. They can essentially do whatever they want. From what I've seen on many other website, most people really want to see Khan. But maybe that be a little too soon. But since there is no script out there right now, we can only speculate what could or could not happen.
Hopefully, everyone from the original film, especially Simon Pegg, signs on for the sequel. I thought the cast worked really well together, especially the Kirk/Spock/Uhura dynamic.
