Things do not look good for the third installment!

    No Caption Provided

Well I for one am very disappointed in this news. It seems that the third installment of James Bond may be put on hold for the time being since MGM may not have the funds to develop the film, leaving the release of a third film "uncertain."

"Well, our timeline's a little up in the air what with the situation at MGM, so we have to be flexible. We just don't know enough about the situation to comment, but we know it's uncertain."

According to the report picked up by Firstshowing, the third Bond film, 'Bond 23,' already had a screenwriter in Peter Morgan, who confirmed that the film would be put on hold for the time being even though the script has been completed.

"Well… we've hired the writers and we've been working with them but it's just too early to say anything," he said. "You know, often at this stage, I find myself saying, 'Oh, we're gonna do this and that', then six months from now you'll say, 'That isn't in the film at all - you told me it was…' I think we're at the stage where a lot of ideas are floating around that sound very good, but whether they make the final cut, who knows?"

Rats! This really is one movie I am looking forward to! I think Daniel Craig is by far one of the absolute best actors ever to play the role of James Bond, and I would be very sorry to see him be forced to walk away from the franchise. Would you be disappointed if there was no third 'Bond' film?

I like Craig as Bond. The movies are really good, because they feel a bit more grounded in reality. They don't go over the top in the wild gadgets anymore. I just find it hard to believe they couldn't get more financing somewhere. It's not as if the previous two did poorly at the box office.

I know I need to keep this news secret from my mother. She is about as crazy for Daniel Craig as some certain 'comic journalists' are for say....Namor.

I'm not worried at all, there will always be another Bond movie, they will get the money situation worked out.  People forget but this is the largest franchise EVER, 22 movies.  Daniel Craig is great, should be out around Thanksgiving area 2011.

Well. poop on a stick.  MGM is having $ probs?  Interesting.  I look forward to another Bond movie but only with Craig and if its done in the same vein as the last two, they were very very good.
Again, even if you're not a Bond fan due to the past movies, please give these a chance as they are plain filled with action and good stories.  "Nuff said.

Not a fan of the last couple of Bond movies. Although I can appreciate realistic feel to them but they didn't feel like Bond movies. I would check out the 3rd movie but it's no big deal that it's on hold

I liked the first, but I didn't really care for the 2nd film.  It just didn't hook me in.  I hope they return to the style of the first movie (if they can get the money), where Danel Craig's Bond returns as the suave, mysterious agent he was in Casino Royale.

This is nothing new. In fact, it's been a long time coming. MGM has been in financial crisis for some time and for the time being they aren't selling the Bond property but now I wonder if Bond was better off if they had.

Too bad about Bond. But too be honest with you, I wasn't that impressed with Quantum of Solace. For me, it had too much action and not enough of a story. Casino Royale was better by far.

this is tragic... but i doubt its really "on hold" as they claim. they're going to try and generate some interest probably before they start sinking money into bond movies again.

They can't afford it? Yeah right, like people aren't lining up to get a piece of that action.

I think Daniel Craig is probably one of the worst James Bonds yet. They hardly feel like James Bond movies at all, really.

I actually like him, but I know what you mean. It's very different from the way he's always been portrayed, except it is somewhat like Sean Connery in Doctor No.
