Origin

The first son and second born child of Tywin and Joanna Lannister; his twin sister, Cersei Lannister, being the first born. As a member of the Lannister house, Jaime experienced great wealth and privilege, along with great power. When Jaime and Cersei were nine years old, their mother gave birth to another son, Tyrion Lannister. Unfortunately, their mother died in childbirth, causing their father to become distant. At the age of 15, Jaime was initiated as a member of the Kingsguard, becoming the youngest member in its long history. However, he betrayed this position at the end of Robert Baratheon's rebellion, when he delivered the fatal blow to King Aerys II. This act of treachery earned him the nickname of "Kingslayer". Since their childhood, Jaime had engaged with an incestuous relationship with his sister, Cersei, and eventually, he fathered three children; Joffrey, Myrcella and Tommen. Fortunately, Cersei managed to convince Robert, her husband and King, that they were his rightful heirs.

Creation

Daniel Abraham adapted the fantasy series "A Song of Ice and Fire" into the comic book medium. Jaime Lannister appeared in Game of Thrones #1.

Current Events

The death of Jon Arryn, the Hand of the King, sent Robert Baratheon to Winterfell, in the north in the hopes of persuading Ned Stark to become the new Hand. Jaime Lannister, as well as Cersei and Tyrion, join him. After the initial feast, Cersei and Jaime retreated to an abandoned tower to engage in their intimacies. Bran Stark, who was merely 8 years old, witnessed their union. Out of fear of reprisal Jaime pushed Bran out of the tower, in the hope that the fall would kill him. It doesn't; but the extent of his injuries caused the young boy to slip into a deep coma.

Meanwhile, Ned Stark accepted the role as Hand to the King, but remained suspicious of the details of his predecessors death. After a botched assassination attempt on the comatose Bran, Catelyn Stark, wife of Ned Stark and Bran's mother, began to suspect Lannister involvement. In particular, Tyrion "the Imp" Lannister. In retaliation of the Lannister's attack on her son, Catelyn kidnapped Tyrion, and brought him to her sister, Lysa Tully, in search of justice. Jaime, angered by this, launched his own attack on Ned Stark.
