I think that if the darkness was made into a movie it would sell like crazy. what do you say?
Jackie Estacado
Character » Jackie Estacado appears in 471 issues.
Ex-Mafia hitman, Ex-Don of his own crime family and Ex-Dictator of a country; Jackie Estacado is the current wielder of the Darkness, an ancient force belonging to the triad of power encompassing the Darkness, the Witchblade, and the Angelus.
the darkness as a movie?
" I think that if the darkness was made into a movie it would sell like crazy. what do you say?"Hell yeah but who would play him.
"I think it would do about as good as Ghost Rider"
please say u mean tht in a bad way cuz Ghost Rider sucked
"Disgusting. The lead has to be attractive because Jackie a Womanizer, w-womanizer, you're a womanizer baby. Other then that, it's not important....But i don't think a Darkness Movie would put up huge numbers, his game certainly didn't.
I don't think the movie would turn out that great anyways."
@Pix: I just chose someone they sorta looked it and would bring in a decent amount of money. I think a darkness film would probably fail epicly
I think a Darkness movie could maybe work. It would depend how it was marketed and how the CG effects were. Did anyone watch Max Payne? That looked bad to me (I haven't seen it). The problem is you can't really market a movie like this for the kids. Kids = merchandise = cash. I posted about this in the Punisher thread. The toys and lunch boxes are what help bring in the cash.
I would like to see a big screen treatment though.
The Darkness may be a cool movie but I would prefer that Top Cow would invest not just in one character, why not put the entire Top Cow universe at hand...meaning its all about the Trinity. Darkness, Witchblade and Angelus plus the Magdalena...The First Born, Broken Trinity and the current direction of the mix of these characters made it an effective vehicle for Top Cow to be on its feet again.
To my opinion, The Darkness and even the upcoming Witchblade movie would fail to impress (but I am praying i am so dead wrong!) the audience and may bomb if the storyline will just pit the characters to ordinary criminals or a character totally out of the comic books they came from.
My Choice for the Roles:
Darkness
Witchblade
Angelus
The Magdalena

personally I think that if top cow helped out with the movie it would be at least better than I would expect, they have a way of making comics unique and if they brought that to a movie it would in my mind be a masterpiece
I'd love to see that movie but Top Cow will wait the results of their Witchblade project. If that movie is a success, I've no doubts that The Darkness will follow the steps. But to tell you the truth, The Darkness is not a comic for kids and that may be a crucial factor to change the character and his background. To aim for a broader audience it could mean less violence (damn), gore (damn!!), less nearly naked and hot women (DAMN!!). But like I've said before, let's wait and see how well Witchblade results :)
the only way to do a Darkness movie would be to go back to the begining... tell the story from when Jackie first inherited the power...
this could work however in reverse, since the Witchblade movie is now going ahead, they could use Jackie in that and use the Witchblade movie as a 'springboard' to launch his own movie...
i'd be interested to see how they did it, but hell no to Keanu having anything to do with it

if I had to choose someone to play Jackie I would have to say Hugh Jackman, he can pull off the "I don't give a damn about anything but myself' persona very well

Witchblade came out before Darkness comic, so I would agree with you on Witchblade being a "launch pad" to the Darkness movie. Also agree on Keanu Reeves not porttraying Jackie Estacado. Keanu has been in enough movies with comic characters.
Josh Hartnett a nice looking guy, but his face WAY too innocent to play a killer for the mob that controlls bad @$$ darklings. He seems more like the guy next door. I would hope the person they pick to play Jackie is someone who atleast looks of a Spanish heritage.
@Pix...the darkness game was #1 according to gamers magazine for awhile when it came out, so yes it did put out some numbers.
"can i just ask why josh harnett"He can act better than Keanu Reeves, making him black hair and a bit worn out looking can make him an effective Jackie Estacado.

" I think that Antonio Banderas would probably make a good Jackie Estacado"Yeah... but he is getting kind of old dont ya think ?
"Yeah, but what better way to end a career than as a mobster that can control the darkness"Truth... but they better cast him in this role before he hits 55 years old... dont wanna see Jackie with strands of Grey Hair...
lol
Can I just say that I think Josh Harnett would make a decent Jackie. He wasn't dazzling in Sin City, but he was a hired killer and no one was to offended by the rather subdued performance. Besides, if 30 Days of Night has taught us nothing else, it has taught us that Josh Harnett can be BA.

His face is too sweet and innocent to be a heartless killer though.
i think the darkness movie would be awsome as long as they dont do a horrible spin off making it more of a horror movie then a comic movie. it would sell because theres a hot mob guy who is indistructable... with a crazy new power. i would say the guy needs to be itialian .....or look it i think a no name actor would be best
My dream role. I'm itching to play Jackie estacado. Just need to get my base in LA first.
