"We will NOT be Undersold"
"We will NOT be Undersold" - I, Zombie #4. Page 10/11 (splash page). Bottom left hand corner, word bubble of Gwen over the river.
I, Zombie may just be the new fables. Great art, Great Story and a smart read. I was not blown away by issue #3 thinking nothing really happened that was important but the ending. Issue #4 was not just a way of Chris Roberson saying sorry to me, but also blowing my mind and showing off that he maybe the next brilliant writer.
This issue of I, Zombie becomes now the most important issue of the series to date. So many questions are answered and so many more are given. Simple answers like who is the mummy man and Who are those two guys in the white that are kind of creey. Questions I didn't even think to ask are answered in great levels, like how are monsters made? The difference between the OverSoul and the UnderSoul. The idea of two souls makes so much more sense. The splash page 10/11 is worth the ticket price of $3 alone. Mike Allreds art is captivating and alluring as within this splash page the narration moves smoothly in a way only Allred can make it. If the art is not enough, just the level of creative theory of life and how it is explained... beautiful.
I said that in issue #3 I, Zombie was showing its teeth and still had no bite... I learned my lesson... never tease a starving animal, it will bite you. I, Zombie is making a stand as the new "It" comic at Vertigo. Great idea, Great art, endless opportunity. If you haven't been reading I, Zombie... get on it. Vampires are old new Zombies are in. If you want to try something different, I, Zombie maybe the series for you. Try this issue out, it is some heavy thinking, but it won't hurt you. It will help your Oversoul out. I hope this book was not Undersold.
5/5 Stars
Cheers!
