The Ise Shrine is the most popular and the most visited shrine of Japan. It is situated between Tokyo and Osaka, inside the prefecture of Mie. In fact there are two major shrines: Naiku and Geku. There are also thousands of little shrine.

Naiku shrine was created in 2 B.C. and was dedicated to the Shinto’s goddess Amaterasu, goddess of the Sun and mother of the imperial dynasty of Japan.

Geku shrine was created in the 4th century and was dedicated to the Shinto’s goddess Toyoke, goddess of agriculture and sericulture.

Naiku and Geku shrines are destroyed and rebuilt traditionally every twenty years. The next session will be in 2013.

In the X/1999, Arashi Kishu is the hidden miko of the Ise Shrine.
