I'm sorry, i don't know much about the iron man comics, nor do i know much about the character whiplash, but is this just a case of the source material not being all that great in the first place? i'm sure they'll make it look incredible on screen, but a dude with whips?

Wether or not you like whiplash, you have to admit that Mickey looks like a brilliant bad guy!

I don't know whats goin on in this scene but the cops in the backround don't seem to mind , I kinda think his "suit" looks lame, I mean why would you need an arc reactor to power your hydrolic  whips, and yeah shoot him in the head, chest ,legs, and or groin, fights over. yeah yeah it's probably a prototype and I'm sure it will look cooler in the movie err something. This  character is going to be combination of  Dynamo and whiplash right? bring on the black widow pics! thats what I want to see.

p.s. I don't think Mickey R, has ever looked crustier, but I still like him because of the movie Barfly

Mickey is the man, although this prototype is a bit crude...hopefully it is just a prototype and we'll be introduced to something even cooler!

You can read the press release on mania.com here... There are several different sites to get this image, I just hit mania (used to be comics2film.com). Rourke is great in these types of movies. My favorite of his is still Sin City... This role will have to be incredible to top that one! He does make one mean villain though!

It's kind of difficult to judge the way Whiplash looks considering that his appearance in the comics was always....less inspiring. I suspect this particular image is the rough draft and not the finalized product, which is understandable since the film has yet to be completed. I am somewhat curious as to why Whiplash was selected given the fact that he is an often obscure Iron Man villain.

it's gotta be a prototype, I mean I'm not playing it down because John Favreau knows what hes doing but this looks like a bit of a come down from Iron Monger, where's the rest of the armour? Gotta be more. But I'm a big fan of Mickey Rourke and I'm curious to see him up against Robert Downey Jr.
