Sometimes, change an be a good thing. That's exactly the case for Iron Man who is going to have the chance to play with some brand new toys when the character sees his series relaunched with Marvel NOW!. According to the series' writer Kieron Gillen, Tony Stark will be donning two new Iron Man suits; one heavy armor and one stealth suit. Both new outfits will premiere in December in issues of IRON MAN #3 and IRON MAN #4.

Now why would Iron Man get two very different suits in such a short period of time? According to Gillen, who will be writing the story, Iron Man will be taking on a variety of different adversaries. Since each villain has different weaknesses, Tony will use different suits to enhance different abilities. For example, when the character goes up against Firebrand, Vibro and Living Laser in IRON MAN #3, he will don the Iron Man stealth suit. This suit will give him more maneuverability and will allow him to be more subtle in his tactics. Now, the suit doesn't just host a sleeker design, it gives Tony some new abilities as well.

== TEASER ==

“The stealth suit [is] shown here in tasteful black, though its chameleonic tendencies can move that in any direction he wants,” shares Gillen. “It maxes out its light-bender, includes lots of holograms, lots of hacking and still keeps a little repulsor and strength if needed.

Not to mention, the suit designed by artist Carlo Pagulayan is also really, really good looking. However, sometimes you need more than stealth to take down your enemies. Sometimes you need to wear something a lot more heavy duty that will inflict some serious damage. In issue #4 of IRON MAN, Gillen will introduce Tony Stark's Iron Man heavy duty battle suit which he will wear when he makes his way through the streets of Paris.

It's clear that there will be some big changes made to many of the characters in the Marvel universe through the launch of Marvel NOW. What do you think of Kieron Gillen's plans for Tony Stark in the upcoming IRON MAN series? Do you like Carlo Pagulayan's new Iron Man suit designs?

Not to keen on the big, bulky suit. The others look good though.

The new Stealth suit rocks my face off.

I like the idea, but are these going to be the only suits he wears? Seems like a waste of the whole Bleeding Edge etc. that was actually really powerful.

That stealth suit is sweet

Stealth suit is amazingly cool and I love the idea of multiple suits, each for a different combat style--it makes perfect sense.

Stealth suit looks AWESOME :D

I'm liking the Stealth Suit. The Heavy Duty armor looks like a War Machine Armor on Steroids and got Iron Man colors.

#20 Posted by xanthiss (169 posts) - 8 months, 3 days ago - Show Bio

The stealth suit looks awesome, but it has no movement in the waist. For a suit that is supposed to provide maneuverability not being able to bend at the waist might be a problem.

Ah! Living Laser, I'll use my Stealth suit! Oh.. wait... Titanium Man is with him... hold on guys, let me change my armor!

They do look cool. The gray one sure looks like the new Robocop ! I do mis the old suits. And the old real Nick Fury. And Hawleye's old purple suit and....

#23 Posted by Lvenger (8228 posts) - 8 months, 3 days ago - Show Bio

Very nice. It makes sense Tony would use different suits for different purposes.

Am I the only one that thinks Iron Man was made, unintentionally of course, for selling action figures?

^This man speaks TRUTH! But who's to say it was really unintentional? xD

In all seriousness though, the stealth suit looks killer. I actually like the big suit too, though admittedly it seems really impractical. Makes you wonder who he's going toe to toe with... in Paris no less!

i would be looking forward to this if it wasn't for Land! What did Gillen do to be stuck with this hack?

#27 Posted by Decept-O (6694 posts) - 8 months, 3 days ago - Show Bio

The thing with Iron Man is that he has an array of suits, tech, and weaponry at his disposal, which I actually like. It is just hoped the writers don't fall on the "prep time" cliche' when Stark encounters certain villains. Granted, he'd be expected to change suits when necessary, just hope it doesn't get overused.

That said, I like these Iron Man suits, great designs!

I dig the idea of Tony having a number of different suits that he wears based on what he thinks is the best fit for the mission at hand.

Plus, that stealth suit design is shmexy

your right the bleeding edge seems like it would be the last line in the armor but the way i see it is that these suit may be add on to bleeding edge (ie the nanobot switch into stealth armor mode) now the the big like other hulkbusters is some thing put on OVER the armor he has on.

and for you

no tony melted down all his pre exsiting suits for bleeding edge at the most there are less than or maybe to ten suits. Roadey has 2 (the new war machine and iron man 2.0) and Pepper has one (rescue). and only pepper's suit will come to her if she called

#42 Posted by traecoffey (12 posts) - 8 months, 3 days ago - Show Bio

looks like some thing off tron. it looks a little to dark for tony. the red looked in-inviting colors have to work for the character. like bat man has dark colors make him seem some what more intimidating and scary. that not what iron man is he more cool

I'm not impressed. He had better alternates in the Extremis era.

The stealth armor is real sleak looking. I like it.

It honestly wouldn't surprise me if Gillen kills it on this title. Both Uncanny X-Men and Journey into Mystery are quality titles. Putting him on Iron Man was smart move.

Is this the third or fourth version of the Stealth Armor? Either way looks pretty awesome. Definitely an instant fave for me.

I think Greg Land is more suited to Iron Man than he was X-men.
