Since the new vol. comes out tomorrow, I felt like this should be created. Just hope I'm not alone here, since this forum is so dead. LOL
Anyways, feel free to post. :)
Iron Man
Character » Iron Man appears in 11210 issues.
Tony Stark was the arrogant son of wealthy, weapon manufacturer Howard Stark. Tony cared only about himself, but he would have a change of heart after he was kidnapped by terrorists and gravely injured. Pressured to create a weapon of mass destruction, Stark instead created a suit of armor powerful enough for him to escape. Tony used his vast resources and intellect to make the world a better place as The Invincible Iron Man. Stark's super hero identity led him to become a founding member of the Avengers.
Iron Man Comics Discussion Thread
@oldwasher: I did. I thought it was pretty good. It should be interesting to see what his new armor can truly do since it has all modes merged together and can change shape and color.
It was also interesting to see Stark dating someone (especially someone that is a super-genius). I have a feeling there is going to be some major foreshadowing with that "cure" to the mutant gene that she came up with. Should be interesting.
I was really confused by the ending with Doom, but I guess no one is going to understand that until Secret Wars is over.
@noone301994: awesome! Sounds like something I'll have to pick up soon
I did too, and honestly, it was a weak issue for me. Not necessarily bad, just.... weak. Maybe it was all the hype. But since this is Bendis, I'll have to wait and see the whole arc before coming to a conclusion.
But damn, David Marquez's art is sooooo good, man.
@noone301994@oldwasher Did you guys see the previews for issues 2 and 3?
@amazingfantasy: I haven't read the issue yet honestly because I'm broke at the moment but it's pretty much at the top of my wish list I just wanted to get some discussion going
@oldwasher: Hahah it's fine and I appreciate it, no one had even answered yet.
@amazingfantasy: lol you're welcome and I hope the discussion keeps going I'll probably comment here again as soon as I've read the issue myself
@oldwasher: Sure thing.
Here's the preview for #2 and #3 if anyone wants to see it (there's no spoilers from #1)

3: http://comicsohwhyohwhy.tumblr.com/post/130363507768/exclusive-invincible-iron-man-3-art-by-david
@oldwasher: Lol sorry for spoiling. I was under the impression that you had already read it...
@amazingfantasy: No I hadn't seen the previews. Were there any? I also liked the art a lot. The issue did seem a little uneventful, but it definitely got me hooked. I can't wait to see how it progresses.
Edit: I just saw the links you posted. Well, sh!t. That sort of killed it for me. Iron Man's power levels don't seem impressive at all. In one scan he can't even dent Doom's shields (without armor apparently?) and his suit gets atomized by some featless energy source. It's cool that it reforms on its own, but it shouldn't be that weak in the first place. I had a feeling Bendis was going to make Stark weak... Smh...
@noone301994: No worries, I didn't really make that clear in my original post so I don't blame you for assuming
@noone301994: Well, it's Bendis, powerlvls aren't really his thing lol.
However (IIM1 spoilers), that's Dr Doom, so the Hulkbuster failing to destroy the forcefield isn't that bad.
Also Madame Masque might have gotten an upgrade there, so who knows.
But I'd say that on paper It's still impressive that Stark can change into any armor he wants (Except probably like, Thorbuster, Phoenixbuster and stuff), and it seems he can instantly rebuild it like it was with bleeding edge.
@amazingfantasy: Yeah you do have a point. I shouldn't knock it down until I see it and the context.
Ya know I reeeeeeally hope we see more of this lady. Bendis said she is at least as smart as Stark or even more, so...
I mean, Stark is like, the 3rd smartest person on earth. She needs to show wazzup.
Of course, we're still on issue 1, and it's Bendis so things likely will be slow, but just saying.
Btw *spoilers*, mutant "cure"? Sounds like crossover material... :p Or just another way for Marvel to screw with the x-men even more
Lettered preview for #2

@oldwasher: Yeah, it came out today.
Personally I thought it was much more fun than the first one! I like what I'm seeing so far, keep it up Bendis.
Sooo now we'll have yet another Iron Man comic
yaaaay
i hope bendis keeps up the quality
tho i'd prefer if it was someone else writing, and it's not even 'cause i don't like bendis' work much, it would be interesting to what work other available writers could do
i'd love to see what someone like waid, yost, PAD or even fraction again would do with tony
I'm a little late but Tony appeared in Contest of Champions and it seems he one shotted grey hulk, hehe cool
Other than that, nothing much...
@amazingfantasy: Unfortunately, apparently Stark was getting his a$$ kicked before he blasted Fixit with his uni-beam so that doesn't really put his durability very high...
@noone301994: Yeah, guess you're right. Tho if he can one shot him, how the hell did the fight got to that point in the first place?
However, I wonder if changing to Hulkbuster for example adds durability (why didn't he do that? :p)
@amazingfantasy: Yeah who knows LOL. It was probably just some stupid way of making the fight look or seem even. Based on feats, Iron Man should stomp him anyway.
@noone301994: Heh, word.
Today's issue was pretty good imo! :D
Tho I don't see why Tony would fall for that lady so fast, and say it out loud.... To her. Dunno, doesn't seems like Tony, and it also feels a little forced.
I did like the dialogue, and this issue had some funny moments again. LOL
*obligatory Marquez compliment* I also think the book needs more action.
I don't think his current comics are really good.
I definitely agree.
Not that I was expecting much, but Imo the first arc of IIM was okay. Marquez art might have helped. The following issues, tho...
International Iron Man is even worse, boring as hell.
So much for two Iron Man books and Tony being the new flagship... This had so much potential.
As it usually is with current marvel, they don't make us actually care for the characters.
Only using stunts (hey there MJ) and overexposing Tony won't make people love him or buy his book.
@amazingfantasy: That is Bendis alright. Either has super cool comics or really stupid comics.
Just read CW II #2.
So far this event feels more like an Iron Man solo. Tbh I'm not enjoying it all, but Tony does have an awesome moment at the beginning of the issue.
But he's also acting way too much on emotion and even tortured Ulysses. I don't like that.
@krleavenger
@noone1996
@amazingfantasy: I personally like it so far. I think it's a good way to make the group get split down the middle. I didn't like how easily Medusa's freaking hair breached Iron Man's armor though.. I'm very interested to see what happens with the Hulk... Not sure how he got so freaking big. You think that Banner is going to turn back into the Hulk?
@amazingfantasy: Interesting.
You think that Banner is going to turn back into the Hulk?
I don't think so. Not yet. But probably they are going to write something where either Tony will look stupid compare to Banner or Cho would destroy all of his team like always.
@noone1996: Well I don't know how tough Medusa is supposed to be so Idk.
I think he'll be back only for a brief moment, not regularly. It's also likely that Bruce will die, IIRC it was said that in CW II #3 that someone will die. Have you been following the solicits? Seems Amadeus Cho will lose someone close to him... Might all be misdirection, but who knows.
I think this disaster will initiate the whole mess. Currently, it's mostly personal to Tony and contained between him and Carol's team. This incident will expand the event to the whole MU.
@krleavenger: Hahaha wouldn't be surprised. The writers really do love Banner don't they? You know what, I hope they do kill him. The funny thing about Hulk fanboys is that they say he doesn't have such extraordinary feats of intelligence because the Hulk always held him back. Well, he's not the Hulk anymore so what's the excuse now? xDD
@amazingfantasy: That's true and some good theories. Even if Medusa was at Sentry's level, she still shouldn't have been able to breach his armor so effortlessly in my opinion. His suit is supposed to be airtight too, so it's not like her freaking hairs would be thin enough to fit through the seams and cracks of the armor. This holds especially true when Tony pointed out that there were none a page later. Either way, I do agree that something really big is going to happen and I personally think whatever happens will make people start to sympathize with Tony and his suspicions of Ulysses's powers. I think they'll see that the Hulk really wasn't going to kill them (like they were shown) and people are going to start to doubt and question how reliable he is.
@noone1996: Indeed. I hope when Banner becomes the Hulk again and when Thor gets back his hammer that they kill each other.
@krleavenger: That'd be pretty jokes.
@noone1996: Well I ment to end Thor and Hulk wanking/trolling to prove they are equals by just killing each other.
@krleavenger: People would still debate it unfortunately.
@noone1996: Yeah probably.
@noone1996@krleavenger Dunno if you guys saw this but Tony will be facing Hyperion in Hyperion #6.
@amazingfantasy: Wow. I'm excited. Hyperion would win probably I it will be cool to see Iorn-man holding his own against a powerhouse like him (as he has done with Hulk, Thor, Sentry...).
@krleavenger: I don't think Tony has a chance here lol. I can see this going very similar to the Sentry fight at best. But I agree it will be cool to see!
@amazingfantasy: Of course he has no chance.
@krleavenger: Yeah and from the way it's being setup It seems Tony will be at the short end of the stick. But perhaps we can get one cool feat or two.
@amazingfantasy: What do you mean "short side of the stick"? Are you talking about this fight?
@krleavenger: Ops. I meant "short end". :p And yes, I'm referring to this fight.
@amazingfantasy: Well Iron-man was holding his own against characters like Thor, Hulk, Hercules and Sentry and defeated characters like Namor and Red Hulk (for Rulk not really). So no reason not to give Hyperion a decent fight.
@amazingfantasy: Oh sweet. Yeah, he has no chance, but hopefully he'll at least hold his own and it'll be a good fight. In the Amazing Spider-Man #14 he actually tanks Hyperion's eye beams from Regent, a guy who can copy/steal powers:
When does Hyperion #6 come out anyway?
