Iron Man Armored Adventures
Young Tony Stark...they already tried that in the comics. People didn't really like it. I do understand why they'd go with the decision to make Iron Man younger. It does make sense. I'm sure I'm not in their target audiences. After all, it's going to be on Nick Toons. I do like the animation. It's not your typical cookie-cutter style. The armor effects are pretty cool. Although I don't like it (here or in the comics) when they show Tony looking like he's sitting in a giant room controlling the armor when he's really crammed inside. The Mandarin looks kinda weird too.
Here's the synopsis.
"Tony Stark, heir to a billion-dollar corporation, lives a life of luxury, free to pursue his chief interests -- seeing extreme thrills, solving scientific mysteries, and creating mind-boggling inventions.
But everything goes horribly wrong when a tragic accident robs Tony of his father and nearly costs him his own life. Now dependent on his own amazing technology for survival and dedicated to battling corruption, Tony must reconcile the pressure of teenage life with the duties of a super hero.
Inside his remarkable invention, Tony Stark is geared for high-speed flight, high-tech battles and high-octane adventure. He is IRON MAN!"

Invincible Iron Man #3 (second print cover)
This is pretty cool. I guess we can hope that issue #4 sells out too to see what armor they'll use next . Even though it was such a departure in color and design, I kinda liked the red and white. It was different. I'm glad they changed it back but it was a fun time in Iron Man's history. That was when I really enjoyed and liked the Iron Man comics. Today, even with the awesome movie, I can take them or leave them. I liked who he was back then versus this big world leader SHIELD commander type person.
How about Nick Fury takes SHIELD back and Tony goes back to being Iron Man full time? But Nick's doing his Secret Warriors/Commandos thing now. We'll see.
Invincible Iron Man #3 Returns With New Printing

Marvel urges retailers to check their orders on Invincible Iron Man, as the series continues to astound all readers and fly off store shelves! Is Zeke Stane smarter than Tony Stark? As cool as the idea of Iron Man running S.H.I.E.L.D., I'd rather see adventures outside of that. Tony Stark as a government bureaucrat just isn't that exciting to me. You can't really have him go on espionage missions (like he did when he went to Madripoor). That just doesn't make sense. As a high ranking dude in office, he shouldn't be placing himself in danger, no matter how well he can handle himself on his own with armor. He just seems so stuffy as the S.H.I.E.L.D. director. I don't know how but Nick Fury just always made it look cool, even wearing one of those blue jump suits. I really really liked the classic Iron Man stories. The current ones have just been so far from those.
At least with
Invincible Iron Man, things seem a little different. I guess with the numerous recent Iron Man series, they were bound to get it right. Maybe it's because we're all still on the sugar-rush after seeing the movie. The movie is helping these to sell out. So make sure you don't miss out.
Invincible Iron Man Continues to Rocket Off and Soar High This summer’s biggest blockbuster super-hero continues to launch into action in his new ongoing series! So, get your energy shields and repulsor rays ready and suit up for The Invincible Iron Man #3! Ezekiel Stane, the son of Iron Man’s notorious arch-nemesis, Iron Monger, is out for revenge for the death of his father. After the jaw dropping conclusion of the last issue, critically acclaimed writer, Matt Fraction (The Immortal Iron Fist, upcoming Uncanny X-Men) thrusts the Golden Avenger against a threat in which he has never faced before! With breath-taking art from super-star artist, Salvador Larocca (Uncanny X-Men), Iron Man may not live long enough to see the end of this exciting storyline!
Entertainment Weekly raves, “Fraction manages to transcend clichés. He finds his footing amid issue 2, where he delivers a one-two punch of both escalating cliffhangers and winky wit.…You get the feeling Fraction just may get a similar sort of thrill from penning this book.”
Marvel urges retailers to check their orders on The Invincible Iron Man as the series continues to sell out quickly! Marvel has already gone back to press on the first two issues as fans crave to blast off and ride the Iron Man excitement.
Will Ezekiel Stane succeed in trying to destroy his sworn enemy, Iron Man? Has Iron Man finally met his match? Find out the answers to these questions and more in The Invincible Iron Man #3!

So I guess the little movie Marvel made helped to sell these comics. Looks like their marketing plan worked!
I do wonder if there were people buying multiple copies. I also wonder if there were non-regular comic reading people that walked into a comic store, saw the #1's and then grabbed them thinking they'd be worth a fortune. Do people still think that way?
Marvel is pleased to announce that both Invincible Iron Man #1 and Iron Viva Las Vegas #1, featuring the star of the #1 movie for two weeks, have sold out at Diamond and will return with new printings! Invincible Iron Man #1 Second Printing features two variant covers, one featuring the first armor from the hit film, as painted by Ryan Meinerberg, and the second featuring a new version of the standard cover by Salvador Larroca (which will be revealed later this week)! Meanwhile, Iron Man: Viva Las Vegas #1 Second Printing Variant, from Iron Man director Jon Favreau, sports a new cover featuring the stunning interior art of Adi Granov!
“We’re happy to see that fans, new and old, were able to discover both the new Iron Man series we launched along side the hit movie,” said David Gabriel, Senior Vice-President of Sales & Circulation. “With these new printings and lots of new Iron Man collections in stores, there’s never been a better time to be an Iron Man fan!”
Marvel urges retailers to check their orders on all issues of Invincible Iron Man and Iron Man: Viva Las Vegas, as the hero continues to generate buzz all over the world!

No big surprise here. I have to say it was a brilliant move on Marvel's part to release both Invinicble Iron Man and Iron Man: Viva Las Vegas the week after the movie opened. As always, I do wonder what the print run on this issue was. You'd think comic shops would be ordering more because of the movie and Marvel would have more printed. So even with six different covers it still sold out.
Please note that Marvel currently has no plans to go back to press on Invincible Iron Man #1

So as everyone's been buzzing about, we have a bunch of Marvel movies to look forward to. Hopefully with the success of Iron Man, they'll see what works. One great movie won't carry a bunch of bad ones. I don't want Marvel rushing to get out a bunch of mediocre films when each one should be done right. They need to ask what made Iron Man a success. The actors? Story? Characters? You can't just slap together a film with comic characters and expect it to be a success. We just have to keep our fingers crossed.
This morning Marvel Studios announced four new films slated for 2010 and 2011, including two Avengers-related movies!
With Iron Man's cinematic debut currently blasting through box offices throughout the country, fans can expect a second film to hit theaters on April 30, 2010! And a few months later in July, the mighty Thor himself will wield his enchanted hammer across the big screen courtesy of director Matthew Vaughn!
Pumped yet? You should be—and you haven't heard the best part! The summer of 2011 will kick off in style with a Captain America movie, followed just two short months later with the July-debuting Avengers!
Want the very first looks at how the Marvel movie universe is already tying together? Be sure you stick to your seats until the very end of "Iron Man"—yes, all the way through the credits! There's an extra special, extra exciting, extra scene guaranteed to thrill!
Plus, as first revealed at New York Comic-Con 2008, catch Robert Downey, Jr.'s cameo as Tony Stark in "The Incredible Hulk," smashing into theaters on June 13!
That noise you hear in the background is the sound of Marvelites the world over rejoicing, True Believer! So get ready, because these next few years are going to be one heck of a good time!

Iron Man
So the Comic Vine staff was able to watch Iron Man today (Wednesday) at the screening courtesy of techcrunch.com. First of all, don't worry, I'm not giving away any spoilers. I'm not that kind of guy.
So what I think? Well, I had high hopes before sitting in the theatre to watch it. Normally I try to have extremely low expectations when it comes to comic book movies. Why? They usually come out pretty flawed. I figure if I go in not expecting a whole lot, I might be somewhat pleased when I walk out. With Iron Man, I couldn't keep those expectations low. I went in wanting to like it.
The movie begins. It started out out right away with some action. That was great. Things just continued from there. Okay, I won't keep you in suspense. What did I really think? I really really liked it. I might even go and say I loved it. It was a damn fine movie. Best comic book movie? You know, it's possible. Talking to RedLAMP and Captain Cascader afterwards, we all agree that the original Superman movie is a great comic book movie. But you kind of can't really compare it to today's movies. That's in it's own class. I think everyone says that Spider-Man is one of the best superhero movies. But I've had problems with that movie even though I liked it. There were some poor casting decisions, I wasn't crazy about some costume designs, and some of the acting felt a little flat.
Iron Man, on the other hand, really didn't let you down. Robert Downey Jr? Nailed it as Tony Stark. He was a believable Stark. Jim Rhodes' character was good too. There were moments where you could see they do have a deep friendship even though they are sort of in different circles now. Obadiah Stane...Jeff Bridges was amazing. Even Gweneth Paltrow (who I'm not a big fan of) was great as Pepper. Jon Favreau was even on screen as Happy Hogan. We can't forget about Stan Lee. I won't reveal what he did. You'll have to see for yourself.
I want to say more but it is late and I do have to wake up at dark o'clock in the morning. It was a great movie. The effects were great. It all worked. The story was very true to the comics (with some obvious tweaks to fit into "modern" times). I already mentioned the top notch acting. Jon Favreau did an awesome job directing. I can't wait to see it again (and eventually own it on Blu-ray).
See this movie!

I've always wondered if comics would ever go completely digital. I like the idea and often read advanced comics that way. You get nice super crisp images. You don't have to worry about smudging the cover or pages. It saves a heck of a lot of space. It's easy to find issues on your harddrive. Can people ever give up the nostalgia of having a hard physical copy in their hands? The prices aren't getting any cheaper...
Marvel Comics, has just added 500 more issues to their online digital comic service. Marvel Digital Comics Unlimited ( www.marvel.com/digitalcomics/ ) offers subscribers the ability to catch up on stories both new and old from the comfort of their own home and now it's is even bigger! As the Incredible Hulk and Iron Man movies prepare to rock the box office this summer, Marvel Digital Comics Unlimited has added a plethora of Hulk and Iron Man digital comics for subscribers to enjoy. Read up on your favorite heroes before they make their big screen appearances this summer!
Older issues will keep fans feeling nostalgic like Amazing Fantasy, Tales to Astonish, Tales of Suspense and Strange Tales, while those looking for more recent comics can read new digital comics of Young Avengers, New Avengers and much more. All of these and a ton more have been digitized for your reading pleasure. See the entire list of 500 here.
The greatest collection of Marvel comics ever assembled online, Marvel Digital Comics Unlimited now offers over 3,500 titles. In addition to today’s 500 comic insertion, there are over 25 new digital comics added every week from Monday through Friday!

So what's the early word on this? Thumbs up or down? Sure I can search for some info but I'd like to hear what you think. The trailer doesn't show a whole lot in terms of gameplay. Flying around and fighting as Iron Man would be cool. But does anyone remember Iron Man vs X-0 Manowar? I'm afraid I don't have high hopes since movie and comic book games are usually real stinkers. Maybe this will be different?
