Functional Iron Man Gauntlet Will Blow Your Mind

Posted by inferiorego (22477 posts) - - Show Bio

We are one step closer to all having Iron Man suits. Now, we've seen cool cosplay before, even ones with mechanical features, but this is a step beyond normal cosplay. The Laser-Gadgets website posted this video of a self-made and functional Iron Man gauntlet that has moving pieces, lights, and a higher intensity laser that is capable of popping balloons. Check out the full video below.

According to Patrick Priebe's Youtube page, the German who created this beast and the founder of Laser-Gadgets, this gauntlet cost around three grand to put together. While brilliant in design, the gauntlet "runs on 1x 18650, plus 2x 14500 Li Ion cells. 2 blue lasers on board, 1.2W each, plus 2 4mW for aiming." Higher intensity lasers create heat, which can pop the balloons. This just adds so much awesomeness to this piece. By far, this is probably one of the coolest realizations of a piece of comic book tech.

What do you guys think of this video? What piece of comic book tech would you like to see in real life?

Thanks to @danhimself for sending this our way.

Really now, and you know this all from that one video? And what of it if this person was inspired by the movies, isn't that, y'know, the point of the movies? To inspire people, through these characters, to look into the realm of the impossible? That's not lame, it's called imagination.

Seriously, that was actually pretty impressive and just shows what one can do with time, effort, and the desire to create something new and interesting. Which this person succeeded at.

Absolutely amazing. The only thing I would say is that it seems like it is too small for his arm and pinches his flesh. Other than that, it is 100% brilliant.

Why didn't he blow up more stuff. The laser lights was pretty boring.

they aren't really that powerful...you can light a match with one after holding the laser on the match head for a few seconds but that's about the max

Haven't seen this in a few months. Kind of forgot about it.

#30 Posted by MrShway88 (721 posts) - - Show Bio

@danhimself: Still would like to see more of what it can do beside retracting and him taking it off and on.

Let's see you build a working, replica of Iron Man's gauntlet and do better. Then we'll talk about "pretty boring". ;]

Damn Germans!!!

Ever since WWII 'merica has been taking victory laps and talking bout how great we are. Meanwhile the Germans are building top notch luxury cars and freakin Iron Man suits.

No wonder we suck at math. We got a A+ on one exam and decided we're too smart for the class. Man, this video just reminded me of how dumb my country is.

Pretty amazing really when you think about it! Looks a bit like it pinches the skin though, but that is pretty darn amazing. Far as what tech, I'd love to have a combination of Hawkeye's and Green Arrows bolt shafts of course that do all the interesting things!

Oh man, this thing is incredibly awesome. It even has moving parts! I wonder how much knowledge, time, and trial and error this took to make.
