I had extremely high expectations for Iron Man #1 and it was not so disappointing, even though it wasn't as good as I expected. It's been a while since I don't read an Iron Man comic. Hell, the last one I read was Tales of Suspense! However, I observed that Tony Stark suffered great influence from the actor Robert Downey Jr. and that should be interesting.Iron Man's new costume is also very cool. I like the dark tone it has. While Greg Land's artwork is good, it's not amazing as it has its ups an...

The armored avenger's latest quest begins NOW! 0

Kieron Gillen's new Iron Man series has quite the legacy to live up to, what with Matt Fraction and Salvador Larroca's 4-year-long run wrapping up just last month. Iron Man #1 is a reasonably promising opening issue, but is not without stumbling blocks which stop it from transcending an average reading experience.Right off the bat, Gillen proves that he has a strong handle on Tony's voice, evidenced by Tony's witty back-and-forth with the supporting characters and his reflective internal monolog...

It's issue one of Iron Man, a point for me to finally be able to jump on to the character, how does it fair? Extremely well. It is a first issue so you can't expect too much but I have to hand it to Gillen, the opener is a well done enjoyable read. We get to see who Tony is by getting in the character`s head and experiencing his wit from the inside. I can't divulge much of the story because it's easy to spoil but let's just say something we know is coming back from the past. It really was a good...

    Nightmares Become Real 2

I have enjoyed reading Iron Man over the past few years and I really enjoyed Matt Fraction and Salvador Larroca's series. When I heard that Kieron Gillen and Greg Land were replacing them on the new series I wasn't actually that bothered. Okay, I will miss Fraction's brilliant writing and Larroca's beautiful artwork but at least they are being replaced by a good writer and a good artist as Gillen has done brilliant work on Journey Into Mystery over the last year or two and although most people b...

Marvel Now has begun, and with it we get a new start to Iron Man. The story itself is pretty accessible to someone who skipped out on the previous series, or has just decided to use this number one to see what the character is about. Gillen does a nice job in establishing a bit of Tony’s character in the first few pages, but things really pick up when the plot actually starts moving. It’s a pretty simple one, but the writing is strong enough that it’s very entertaining. Much of it just having to...
