he has in the past displayed great will power, in most stories involving the use of chi it requires quite a bit of will power and self control to even access it let alone do anything useful with it. not only that it would also be really cool to see what he could do with a lantern ring

I doubt the chi of Shou-Lao would allow the influence of a power ring.
