i love iron fist and i love the new avengers but why is he there? not that i dont want him there but exactly what has he done in the avengers other than crash his jet? its such a waste of a character... is he only there to fill in the numbers?
Iron Fist
Character » Iron Fist appears in 2258 issues.
The latest in a long line of warriors who wielded the power, Danny Rand is the immortal Iron Fist: protector of the mystical city of K'un Lun. He channels the soul of the dragon Shou-Lao making his fists into powerful weapons. He is among the best, if not the best fighter in the Marvel Universe. He has also been a member of The Defenders and the New Avengers.

Yeah. Like The Swordsman. Or Mantid, although she can kick some serious @$$.

By normal definition, Mantid isn't a hero, but considering the fact that she was one of the first Avengers, she deserves credit. She can take down Batman, and alot of heavy hitters. I don't see what makes her any different from anybody else.
yeah, i like that he's there it annoys me that marvel haven't used him in any story, he's always in the background... i want him to do something

well, now his chance with the avengers

The New Avengers are more like the Defenders to me. When Luke Cage joined the Avengers, he told Cap that he wanted them to handle other threats. I took this as more of the things that helped out the little guy in the streets (like when they went to clear that neighborhood of drug dealers). Iron Fist would be perfect for a team like that. Dealing with underworld type criminals. Still they would be a good backup team for the main team (Mighty Avengers). They are not push overs.
Like what Tony said when recruitin Mighty Avengers "In this day and age? You have to have a ninja" Iron Fist is a pretty good one
I say Danny and luke should re-take the Heroes for Hire title. I loved thier two former titles together.

Right he the team member with the money.

Parker didn't join because he felt bad for the hulk. He could have easily led the hulk to the avengers but chose not too.
Echoes says:
"Why is he so popular, is a better question"
He's popular, because he was introduced in the 70's, when Kung Fu movies were huge. It was a well written comic, made to take advantage of the Kung Fu hype, and they created a cool character that's a mix between Batman and Bruce Lee.
He's rich, he's one of the best martial artists in the Marvel Universe, and he bear-hugged a dragon to death.
That says awesome in my book.
Plus if you read his current series, he turned himself into a human bullet and survived a blast bigger than hiroshima. Despite some people calling him a clown, he's no push over, and he has helped deal with some huge threats in the past. Besides, if you say that Danny isnt up the the avenger standard, you may as well say the same for cap and hawkeye(now ronin). Echoes, I really don't see why you don't think he could be a member of the avengers. I mean, if moon knight could get in, almost anyone can.
My favourite Iron Fist moment, in Hulk #300, which has the Hulk basically fighting everyone in the Marvel Universe, has Power Man and Iron Fist show up, right as the Hulk knocks out Johnny Storm. Cage catches the Torch, and Iron Fist casually shouts "I'll tackle the Hulk!". Cage only says "Be careful!"
THAT is bad ass.
One thing that I always liked about him was that Sabretooth, the guy who has been Wolverine's arch enemy for almost as long as anyone can remember, was originally an Iron Fist villain, which, for me, just gives him instant bad ass-ery.
He's an Avenger because Bendis likes him, simple as that. That said, he fits in better than Doc Strange does. Doc Strange's job is much more important that stopping supervillains, and all those bank-robber-stoppers can only get in the way and get themselves killed by whatever Strange has to fight before breakfast that day.

That has nothing to do with anything said in any of the posts you quoted. It says Parker wasn't allowed to join the Avengers because he was inexperienced.
