After a few months of building story, us faithful followers of the best superhero comic in the universe, (even said so on the front of the comic, but not this issue for some reason) were treated to whats becoming a rare occurence. Every 20 some odd issues, writer Robert Kirkman likes to take us away from the happenings of our hero and journey out into space to catch up with the latest of one of the series' most undeniably popular characters Allen the Alien. The last we had seen of Allen had him letting himself be captured by the Viltrumites and now is being held in one of their prisons. Apparently while in the joint, Allen has been making friends with one time mistaken enemy and now big time baddie, Nolan aka Omni-Man, father of Invincible and once the greatest champion of Earth. What was to be a routine escape and possible recruitment instead became a saving of a friend. Not only are we treated to a full issue of Allen and Nolan battling it out against Viltrumites and others, which alone would have made this issue on of the best for the series in the last few months, we are also surprised with a guest appearance by none other than fanboy favorite Battle Beast! What follows is nothing short of fanboy heaven as the three kick ass and take names ( no actual names were mentioned but the sure did kick ass) and it led to probably one of the series biggest reveals. Hopefully in the future, we can see more of these three without having to wait another 20 some issues. All in all, this is a great issue and prrof that Mr Kirkman does indeed listen to his fans and shows why he is the best writer in the business today. With all that and the always perfect Ryan Ottley providing the art, this should stack up as one of the best issues of any series of the entire year. Unfortunately, Invincible doesnt recieve the attention that it deserves. Hoipefully some will read this and be moved to try it out, please do, you will not be dissapointed.
